I have just finished fitting an MRA Vario screen to my 1100 (Cheers Jaws:thumb) and after initial road testing it seems to work well but it flaps about rather a lot, I did a search on the forum and others mention this too, nobody seems to have posted a cure? well anybody???

Hi Stewart,

They do seem to have a fair ammount of movement compared to the std screen (about half inch of flex on mine - back and forwards) You can check that the rubber fittings are located in the mounting wholes correctly and have expanded properly. I was concerned that I had not fitted mine correctly but I have done several thousand miles since with no problems. Don't overtighten the mounting screws as this could crack the screen.

Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply, the four "Top hat" shaped nuts are snugged down as tightly as I am comfortable with, they dont appear to have expanded though, methinks some bits of rubber pipe might be employed here to prevent excessive movement .

What do you think of the screen? is it quieter than the standard?

Its definitely quieter, and it appears to keep the wind pressure/roaring off more effectively than the standard one, I am however only saying this after a fifteen mile dual carriageway test.

I've gotten used to it. It only shakes very little, yes the 1100 stock screen is rock-hard, small and thick, but you should see how badly the 1150 ADV stock streen shakes especially with additional spoiler on top :augie Then you understand the MRA Vario is within very acceptable shake range with it small shake but very good wind noise and buffeting rection per such size screen.

I've got one on my 1150, they all shake a bit. I shouldn't worry about it, it won't fall off. Just enjoy the fact that it is so much better than a std screen.
