Franky, on an 1150.. started with the standard screen, then tobinated it... added an extension on the top... Rode to Berlin and bought an ADV screen.. dumped the standard one at the dealers, rode back with the ADV screen.. got home and tobinated it.. tried a wunderlich screen...then bought an MRA...

finally got the bikes airflow and looks about right....

The MRA has my vote... :thumb

Franky,

I have just bought one for my 1200. I do like the looks of it, take a look here for some more photos of the screen. With regards to its effectiveness compared to the standard screen, I am still tryin the various different settings at the moment.

MRA SCREEN

I bought one of these screens a couple of weeks ago. In the past I've spent good money on MRA screens for the 1100 and 1150 and they made little
difference ,but this one is alot better in fact on it's highest setting I can ride visor up at illegal speeds. The great thing is when your off the motorway you can then fold the top down and tilt it down.In short the best screen I've had on a GS.
One small word to the wise, when fitting the screen don't us studloc on any of the screws because if any gets onto the screen it will cause it to form alot of small cracks. It's not terminal, it's just not very nice to drive along looking at a thumb print made up of tiny cracks!

Where did you get yours from and how much did you pay?

Cheers for all the replies. :thumb

A company called HPS. See here for details. It took them a mere two days from phoning them up to deliver the screen.

Bob - any further information about the effective noise and wind reduction with the MRA on your 12. I am really interested in this concept - the fact that you can (correct me if I'm wrong) fold the screen down when eg offroading is really appealing to me. I hate the roar and windnoise at high m/way speed but don't want to fit a barn door to the front of my bike which is a liability offroad + looks crap in general.
thanks
Peter

I'm still experimenting with the settings for now. No problems with buffetting, but I am still getting plenty of noise. Its not much bigger than the standard screen overall, so I suspect it is unreasonable to expect a big drop in noise levels compared to the standard screen. And at 6'3 with a 33 inch inside leg, I am tall in the body which means a bit of a challenge for any screen manufacturer.

But I will keep you posted on how I get on.

Vario screen vs TT Windscreen extender

Thanks Bob - look forward to a full evaluation.
Did anyone here consider the Touratech windscreen extender as an alternative to a different screen? I have looked into pricing the extender (expensive) and know that Dolphin has one and likes it.

Anyone else with experience on the merits of both options?

I am looking for the best of both worlds - a quiet screen for high speed touring but something that can be adjusted so as not to be a liability when offroading.

Might put this question up as a new thread to solicit new opinions
