I bought one as part of a deal with a front fender extender. The extender was identical to the one from nippy Norman’s and I kept it. The mudsling wasn’t very good (IMHO) so I sold it on. But I’ve heard some knock off copies are ok.

Cheap is not good , fellow rider bought the cheap copy and it ended up shattering , I use the original one on my bike for years , still got loads of impact marks but solid as a rock.
You get what you pay for , he was lucky it went away from the bike but could have jammed the rear up.
I always baffles me to the extent that folks wish to save a few pounds on things after they have spent so much on the bikes.
Suck it up , buy well , buy once and stop being tight , the tarmac hurts and don't start me on cheap levers , they crack , cheap tyres slip ………...etc etc im not preaching , just stating the obvious.

I got one it’s great, don’t get your pants pulled down on mudsling I’ve made that mistake before.

It’s not about saving a few pounds, it’s about paying an extortionate amount for a hidden piece of black plastic.

I can vouch for the ones from M&P are absolutely perfect in fit and function on my new 1250 GS
They are about £48 for both but there’s someone you can contact if you have an issue, unlike ordering from China

I bought a £20.00 one from China, it has now done 40,000 mls across two bikes and does it's job very nicely. It is made of the same type of non shattering plastic as the Mudsling.
I couldn't make myself pay that price for a Mudsling, glad I didn't.

you worry too much. I draw the line at £140 for something that should be half that greedy fuckers. I was even cool at £99, but now it’s £139 yer having a laugh.

May be worth checking out the following post regarding the damage that a poor fitting "mud sling" can do. I found that clearances seemed ok with a mate sat on the bike while I checked. Riding however is a different matter as the suspension movement cannot be replicated with the bike stood still. I would suggest the use of some chalk on the edges of the plastic guard to see if it rubs off after a short ride.

My experience: 5 of us with mudslings fitted to R1200gs bikes. 2 genuine machine art items, 3 eBay Chinese copies. All 3 copy versions caused abrasion marks on the rearward facing face of the swinging arm down to bare alloy; the genuine ones were stiffer and did not deflect to cause similar damage. That is all.

Removed my Mudslinger as it rubbed on the tyre whilst away in the Alps last year, complained to Nippy where I purchased it from but never got a response! so buy the cheap copy from China and stop paying for over priced tat!
