Has anyone tried one of these yet?. I don't want a hugger, most of which don't seem to fit properly and this looks almost like a proper mudguard.

The price is, I suspect, mostly to do with a small production run and the cost of making the mould to inject the plastic into. Its USD159 on the makers website so GBP99 is not an unreasonable conversion.

Not only is it plastic, but it's held on with cable ties! I would rather buy a Nippy Hugger

Looks almost like a factory part and is seldom noticed by the casual observer,so if you are looking for bling factor look elsewhere,
Does it work? oh yes-and much more effectively than a carbon fibre hugger (but doesn't look nearly as good), sorry I have no pics of it on the bike but there's naff all to see really

Well if that's the case, trust me, the funny zip-tied plastic thing works perfectly.

If you want carbon fibre bling then it doesn't.

Neither does it rub tyres, rub the swing arm, flap around or get clogged up with shite with TKC's fitted

Seriously though, don't discount it 'cos it's not a hugger, it's a seriously good bit of kit

Looking at the Mudsling on the NN site, the picture looks different to the one you have fitted, although the idea seems the same. What type is yours Andres?

Along the same lines, I posted my solution to the (lack of) rear fender problem, as in:
Inexpensive rear fender fix

The point being, there are cheaper alternatives out there that work as well as any of the expensive or troublesome (i.e. some huggers) solutions.

I've made two mudflaps following the first of Bullwinkle's links. One was rigid polycarbonate and the the other something more flexible (no idea what sort of plastic but it cut with a Stanley knife). Neither look likely to be fitted because the material used must be flexible enough to bend round the tool tray and rigid enough to not flap about in the breeze from the rear tyre. All the materials I used were saved from the scrap bin so I don't care about the cost but I'e yet to find something suitable to make one from. Also, the design shown needs to be modified to go around the rear shock shroud. The second link shows something I would like to try when I stumble upon a scrap mudguard of suitable size (it looks like it does the same job as the NN part I asked about when I starterd the thread).
