Mudsling, why so expensive?

Looking at the pictures, it looks like the ebay one isn't as long as the Mudsling, and falls short of the swingarm. Does it?

See the pic below. I think the gap is about 1cm. It couldn't be any lower or it would touch the frame. It's about halfway down the swing arm... hope it helps

So there's the flaw. It doesn't protect the swingarm.

I'll stick with my Mudsling, and have comprehensive protection of the swingarm.

Yes.... it's easy. Just do a headstand..

Happy to have the suspension protected.... the swing arm is easy enough to clean. but as we always say, each to their own...

On my first LC GS, before the mudsling came out, the swingarm got peppered with stone chips after only a few weeks. As BMW don't paint their bikes properly any more, any vulnerable areas need as much protection as possible. For the sake of £110, the Mudsling is a no brainier. How much would it cost to repaint the swingarm?

I have the puig infill panels, unfortunately this stops me fitting the 'mudsling', glad I haven't spent £150.00. I don't mind butchering a £26.00 piece of plastic to see if I can make it fit.

Right, don't bother getting this one.
After making it 'fit' it touches the swing arm (probably 2"-3" shorter than the mudsling). Because it is shorter it curves into the swingarm instead of curving under, see the picture from BigALELY, I think his paint on the swingarm will have a short life.

Just to clear, I have no interest in persuading anyone what to buy... but I didn't have to make any adjustments to mine, it fit perfectly fine. I put the pic up to help show where it fits and just to help others see... I hope it helps... Al

It's just the camera angle. Thoroughly checked... not rubbing on any part of the bike. Will keep an eye on it though. Cheers

Great, people raving on how good they are etc and now someone has actually took the time and shown a pic of how bad they are after loads of people (including myself) have bought one

if mine rubs I'm getting the heat gun on it and bending it in a little, not impressed though after so many people said they fit and work great and exactly the same as the mudsling

lesson learned I suppose

Tried that, as you bend it away from the swingarm it makes it wider so it will touch the sides of the swing arm, then you would have to start trimming. After all that it would still be too short.
Not worth the trouble. Oh well it was worth a try.

BigALELy, Looks to me like the photo was taken with the bike on it's centre stand, try with someone sitting on it.

It is true, in my case.... last post from me.... no rubbing, no problem with fitting... happy with it. Not being untruthful, why would I?

I have a Chinese copy on mine arrived in 10 days fits perfectly and does not rub anything it's been on the bike for approx 2 weeks and 1,000 miles
It protects the shock and when not on the centre stand which is where it will obviously be when riding it bridges the gap between the two original deflectors.

More than happy with my £25 purchase

Might be the wrong place to ask but relevant to fitting a mudslinger.
Does anyone know where to get the rubber frame fixings thingies for the frame protector, I would prefer to fix the mudslinger with something better than cable ties.
Plus the rubber fixing straps are easily removed for cleaning.
