Recently bought one of these for my GSA TC off here. I had one on my 1250GSA and this was marked with the Mudslinger logo, but his one has nothing. Anyone know if those earlier Mudslingers were marked at all?

The one I had on my R1200GSA TC had the mudslinger branding on it, top right side from memory. But if it works why does it matter? The genuine Mudslinger will no doubt be made in China.

Reports of a few copies failing.

It’s just a piece of moulded plastic held on with tywraps, nothing to really cause it to fail, there are reports of “imitation” hugger Alloy arms failing, my Puig branded hugger failed on my Hexhead.

AFAIK all mud slingers are branded….my early one certainly was. I have a cheap Chinese copy….certainly not nearly as well made but it’s a bot of plastic that stops the mud….so good enough!

I have had both, genuine fitted now, simply because I got a cracking deal used.

IMO the Chinese copy was 90% of the kit for 10% of the cost. I most likely wouldn't buy the MudSling at full price, its is better finished though.

not sure if road tyres or something else that's strange - I have never got as wet feet riding any other motor bike in 45 years of use as I do with my r1200GS - a front mud sling does nothing at all to reduce it - these days I suspect it makes thing worse by some magic

Had an original on my GS and bought an AliExpress copy when I sold it to get a twin cam. Ended up swapping them as o had an overlap but the copy was exactly the same shape and just a little thinner plastic than the original. With a big stone it might fail but it was really good and I would have fitted it to my new bike if it hadn’t arrive so quickly.

Doesn’t help with your original question but the copies are very good just done to an absolute minimum cost

I bought the cheap copy. It fitted ok and it does keep the rear suspension clean no matter how dirty the swing arm gets.
