Here's the question.....Just updated the mapping to the most current on my Zumo 660... and having read on here that a 32gb card would hold the whole of Europe , bought one and put it in.... all the music I had on the old 8gb card I moved to a folder on the Mac.
So Garmin Express tells me that the mapping will go onto the 32gb card.
This all seems to have worked ( after 4 attempts)

Can I drag and drop all the music I have onto the card in the 660 or will it cause issues with the mapping?

thanks :thumb

I would create a folder on the card you have in the unit called "music" and then drop your tunes into that and all should be well :thumb

I think you have to call the folder you create "MP3s" or similar, otherwise Garmin won't recognise it. No expert, so stand to be corrected.

Hmm...I have a problem in the same area...:P I updated Maps (through Garmin express) and it put the new maps, (around 3.5 Gb ? ) on the new SD card thing. I then chucked a couple of Gb of music onto the card too. Firstly I created a folder called "Music"..oddly enough...but the Zumo will only find about 40 tracks. I then took them out of the folder and put each album in as a separate folder. That led to only about 20 tracks being found.
On my other 660 (not updated) the Maps are on the unit and there's a couple of Gb of music on an SD card.....

Any ideas?

what type of card and what size. and did you put the music into sub folders.

One of these... "PNY Elite Performance Class 10 MicroSD Memory Card - 16 GB" Read speed: up to 100 MB/s Write speed: up to 60 MB/s......... works OK with the Map update....

I first put the music into a Folder called Music. Each album was a sub-folder. Then I tried taking them out of the music folder and having each album (folder) straight onto the card...if you see what I mean...

Have you tried the old 660 unit with your new card and maps to see if the problem is replicated,

Also when searching for music as well as searching all, have you looked under album, artist, genre, as i know some of my music does not display under the all function, i think its the way the music is tagged that causes this, i may be wrong.

From my experience with my Garmin Zumo 660, if the MP3's are not tagged with their relevant metadata, then the Garmin will not recognise them; they are on the card or in system Ram, but if they have no tags, the Garmin doesn't "see" them.
Which software do you use to convert from wav or AIFF files to MP3's?

I have used "Switch" on my Mac, which is great at converting to MP3, but it doesn't add the necessary tags, and found that the Garmin didn't find them. Using iTunes to convert is a bit more convoluted, but it does add all the necessary tags (titles, artist etc), plus shows the Album title too; this is also important! I then add each Album as a Folder into my MP3/Music Folder on my card in the Garmin, with the correct Album title as shown in iTunes, and all is usually fine. As fine as things ever are with Garmin that is!

Doing it this way is a bit long winded, but in my experience it does mean that when searching /browsing for songs, they show up correctly under Album, Artist etc. There may well be quicker and better ways to d this, so always happy to discover how other people do this.
Hope this helps :drums

I was not sure weather this applied to the Mac, never having had one, that's why I said I may be wrong, but glad you have confirmed it.
