begining to think my 6 years as a car mechanic in late 70 s early 80s must have been a dream . can someone please tell me how to get clutch master cyclinder cap off, just spent 2 hours trying to get it off on my 1200gs , tried twisting , no chance. just makes cracking noise like the whole thing is going to break .

In case you don't know, some if not all 1200s use mineral oil and not brake fluid. Unless there's a problem, you shouldn't need to change it, and definitely DON'T use brake fluid unless it says that you can on the lid.

on 2 sides just underneath the cap is some little indents with clips that you must push in and hold while turning the cap, it is a little fiddly but you soon get the hang of it

yes cheers lads , thanks for your warning mr womble . if i ever meet up with you terayon i owe you a pint , got top off and problem sorted .
