Must do mods - tell me.

As a fellow new GSA owner i too am confused about the oil.

It seems to me BMW change there mind a fair bit about whats the best.

I have Castrol 10W-40 motorcycle oil (I had a LOOOONG unwanted/uneeded lecture at my local Triumph dealer years ago about the pitfalls of using car oil).

I know some use 10(or is it 20?)W-50.

So whats best?

(I had a LOOOONG unwanted/uneeded lecture at my local Triumph dealer years ago about the pitfalls of using car oil).

Thats because triumphs have an intergrated gearbox and wet clutch. Not all bikes are the same.

BMWs twins have a separate engine and gearbox and a dry clutch so do not need any of the motorcycle specific oils and their clutch/gearbox additives that most bikes need, so a car engine oil is perfect for them.

My lecture was due to the Sprag clutch going in my 94 speed triple.

The lecture was about "how you screwed up the bearing due to using car oil with slip additives" 15 minutes of me trying to get a word in edgways with the parts manager to explain i had only owned the bike a month! :mmmm

Then i said "can i have the bearing then"....No we are out of stock :blast

So Steptoe. I have noticed you are a complete Guru. What oil do you recommend? Make and type?

I have read and read to only confuse whats what.
