i have an airhawk too. good for cruisers and short arsed blokes (not for a gs and certainly not with a sargent). problem is you no longer sit IN the saddle, bur rather ON TOP of it.

he's right you know.

tried an airhawk years ago. you just wobble about above the saddle, totally disconnected from the bike. still got arseache.

sargent is fantastic. done several 500 mile plus days on it with little discomfort. highly recommended.

Like a Vindaloo after a night of Tequila slammers, I'm going to disagree with you.

I use an Airhawk all the time on long runs. The trick being to only inflate it a little, not to blow it up like a balloon. Mine looks as though it has nothing in it, until I sit down. I probably sit around 5mm off the seat and although there is still a certain amount of disconnected feeling, it's far from a problem and the extra comfort more than compensates for this. An extra benefit of course is that one airhawk fits pretty much all bikes.....laying out large sums for after market seats, which only fit one model, seems a bit too much to me.

As has been said, bar and peg positioning adds to discomfort for some. I'm throwing some Rox risers and Pivot Pegz on mine and along with the airhawk I think I'll get the best solution for the least outlay.
 
Wow - I am amazed with the amount of posts here - thanks to all.
I think I will be getting the SGT seat as it seems to get the general vote over other seats.
I was aware of the Air Hawk but didn't like the idea of an air bag on top of my seat, good idea though.
Since posting I have raised my std seat (front and back) and will see if that makes any difference as I did find my legs a bit crunched up on the lwr setting.
I won't really know if it is any better (I doubt it) until I do another trip in ex of 250 miles.

All I need is my bike back now, dropped it into dealer this morn as it is running rough and they lent me a '08 FS650 (fantastic bike). Just went to get on the FS to go back and get my GSA only to find a big wood screw in the back tyre - :spitfire. They are sending their van with my bike in and gonna collect the FS - gutted as I was really looking forward to another trip on the FS.
 
I like the look of the Sargent front seat. Does it solve the problem of sliding forward all the time, which is partially resolved by fitting the seat high at the front and low at the back. ie is the Sargent seat higher at the front than the standard seat.
 
Any recommendations for a Sergant supplier (UK), I see Nippy is doing them for £460, also can I just buy the front for the 1200GSA as NN only list separates for the 1150?
 
Another vote for the standard seat - in fact I've put a low one on mine. For me the GSA seat is too high, too firm and has a kind of high central ridge that kills my bum too.
Low seat ducks me down a bit further behind the screen too.

Oh, and my feet touch the ground as well. :D

Thanks, I have ordered it from them, although they are out of stock until early next month.
BTW, it is possible to buy just the front seat for the 1200 (£269.95), I did think about getting just the front, but then realised that they don't see just the back so if, one day, I decided I wanted the back I would be scuppered!
 
ha ha - got one off ebay and saved myself £100, so cancelled my order with sgt.
Just need a long ride to see if it is any better.
Looks much better than the stock plank type seat.
