had a spin on a K 1200 GT today and liked it very smooth but Im waiting for a spin on an RT

any comments about these two bikes ?

I've just got back from a 360 mile trip around Wales today and I feel like I've been buggered by a bear!!!! Definately going to get my seat's Melvyn'd at the end of the week!

I've got the seat high at the front and low at the back which kind of levels it out a bit and its the best out of a bad lot.

Still a cracking bike though!!! :bounce1

Well I have all my old 1150's done by Melvyn x 3, and can say that for me I prefer the gel inserts/webbing that he fits in the seats.

I might get him to round off some of the sharp edges too and level the seat off rather than the sloping forward style.

I've yet to be disapointed however I've never had a 1200 seat done before.

I'll let you know what its like in a couple of weeks.

Beat me to it Mutters :D

Sounds like a right ponse to me :ymca

you seem to know quite a few :nono

thats what i like about this forum there are some ass holes some with and some without sore ones

Just get the cheap version of the airhawk, does the job for me.
can go for about 4 hours without a stop then

I don't know how many miles you've racked up so far so this may be irrelevant but I've always found it takes at least 1000 miles for a new BM seat to be comfortable. And, once they've been broken in, I 've never felt the need for an aftermarket seat.

When I first got the GS, I was in such pain I got an Airhawk for a while but couldn't get on with it. After a couple of thou miles, I found whole days in the stock saddle no problem at all.

Don't forget the pictures ;)

My GS is in the garage at the mo for a servie and was given a loan of a GSA 12.

Have noticed that the seat is no where as comfy as the seat on my GS. I could also feel a lot of heat coming through.

Strange. You would think th GSA seat would be even plusher.

A sore point for me.

The only good thing so far over the GS....THat screen. Awesome.

Done 10,000 miles on my 1200 Adventure and neither the seat or the suspension has 'bedded in'

Seat, albeit lowered by a professional upholsterer, is downright uncomfortable after a couple of hundred miles...

... and the suspension is still like riding a penny farthing across cobbles

Wrote to BMW weeks ago but still not had the courtesy of a reply... :nono

It's a fantastic 'bike but will have to go... not spending any more money on it. As an aside, my 1150GS-A with the BMW low seat option was ffffantastic, to the tune of 800 miles a day if need be :thumb

I know that Wilbers suspension and a Wunderlich seat will solve the problem... but now got my name on an F800GS whenever :D
