...but I'm not sure what it's saying.

Went for a ride out Saturday around the Peak district. I had my autocom on (avi pro). Plugged into it is a garmin 2610, Samsung MP3 player, Kenwood Tk3201 transceiver and my Nokia 6280 mobile. Anyway, all is fine listing to music and took a phone call from SWMBO. Plus the garmin instructions came through loud and clear..

However after a bit I turned the MP3 player off. I then kept hearing a "tone" Hard to explain in text. It was a bit like a text message tone, but wasn't a text message, as I received one while on route and it was different. This tone was made up of 4 notes, kept happening every 20 seconds or so.. I decided it may be the Kenwood as it sounded like the tones you hear sometimes after you finish speaking over a CB radio. But the kenwood was switched off, so I unplugged it from the autocom and the noise still kept happening. I then unplugged the satnav and it still happened...
I have read the autocom instructions, but I can find anything... HELP!!

It was driving me mad... lol

Any help would be greatly appreciated..:beerjug:

Im unsure on this one mate, it will not be your Super Pro due to nothing on the circuit board having anything built onto to allow for this. It will be something that is actually plugged in.

All I can suggest is book an appointment with us and take a long ride over lol. We can then have a look at your set up and see what is causing the "tone"

Is it the sort of noise that you get when your mobile phone is too close to a speaker system ??

Thanks for your replies guys. I live about 0.2miles from the autocom dealer in Leamington spa, so can pop in one afternoon. It's not interference like the buzz you sometimes hear when the phone is close to a radio. It's a definite tone. Like a text message tone or more similar to the tone you would hear on some CB radios when you let go of the button when you have finished speaking. (a roger bleep)

It's a strange one. Can't see my mobile sending a tone every 20 seconds or the MP3 player, which was switched off. Would make sence it was the Tranceiver or GPS, but they were off too...

Very strange. I have tried typing the tone sound, but really doesn't come out correctly. :o
Like de...der.de.de.. with the last 3 pips coming in close succestion. All pips happen within half a second. First two pips are the same note and the next two are assending in note.

I hope it does it again when I take it to autocom...

not an expert but were your batteries low on your phone or mp3 player? might be worth a look, its sometimes easy to overlook the obvious

Nemisis, thanks for your reply. I was thinking along the same lines, thought it might have been the transceiver giving out a low battery warning, until I unplugged it and the noise still went on..

Anyway, I've got to the bottom of it. It was my mobile phone!

When the right hand select key is held down and headphones are plugged in it goes into voice dial mode (which I've never used) and to notify me when to speak it plays a silly tone.. The one I was hearing through the autocom. My theory is that the button must have been pressed down, in the bag I put the Mp3 player and phone whilst riding.. Blooming thing... Strange thing is I always put the key pad lock on, for obvious reasons. I'll be double checking next time I use the bike... Wondering if answering the call to the wife earlier on in the ride, took the key pad lock off...

Glad I didn't make it as far as the autocom shop, as no doubt it wouldn't have done it again and I would have looked a bit silly going de..der.de.de :D

ps. it is a 1200 GS, like the idea it was Morse code and a warning there was imminent failure...

Thanks again to all. :thumb
