My first BIG Adventure (EU2026)

I'd been planning to do this trip for quite some time, and here it is
I went from Harwich to Hook of Holland and took an overnight ferry.
I chose this route, as Dover is a bit of a pig to get to. That, and I'm not a fan of the place.

Day 1 Holland (NL) to Polich (DE)

• Via Belgium and Luxembourg (just because I could)

Day 2 Polich to Basel (CH).

• 
• I'd planned to camp in the Black Forest, but it was such a nice day I rode a bit longer.
• Stopped off here https://www.technik-museum.de/en/ the only place in the world with Russian and EU supersonic airliners in the same please
• 
• 
• If you get a chance to go, it's absolutely worth the detour.

Day 3 Basel to Trin Mulin (CH)

• Via a place called Fiesch and Goppenstein.
• 
• "Snakes on a plane", Bike on a train, something different.
• I used to teach ski and snowboard here, and always wanted to see it in the summer.
• 
• Then on to Trin Mulin via the Furka and Oberalp passes. (Sadly too windy to put the drone up )
• 
• Yes, a lighthouse up a mountain
• 
• Spent the day riding with an old ski buddy who is also a biker
• 
• He took me on so crazy routes. Sadly, my SD card got full, so I missed out on some awesome footage)

Day 4 Trin Mulin to Davos and Innsbruck (AT) (via Thusis and Scmitten)

• via the valley roads, some awesome twisties
• 
• 
• Davos an other place I used to teach ski and snowboard
• 
• via the Fluela Pass
• Only ever flown into this place so was good to have a look around
• Stayed in a posh hotel - The Hilton (is is just me or does that look a lot like a Jawa Sandcrawler from Star Wars)
• 

Day 6 Innsbruck to Berchtesgaden (Eagles Nest) via Waidring

• Waidring is a very sentimental place as I first stared skiing and snowboarding here over 25 years ago
• Popped in to see some old friends and have a look around
• 
• Then on to Eagle's Nest. Contrary to popular belief, Hiltler actually spent very little time here
• A really interesting place with some spectacular views

Day 6 Salzburg to Nuremberg (DE) (starting to head home)

• I went to see the Palace of Justice where they held all the trials
• Sadly its a working building so not much to see

Day 7 Nuremburg to Koblenz

• 
• 
• Not much to report here just a riding day.

Day 8 Koblenz to Amsterdam

• Amsterdam is crazy busy. Bicycles and people literally everywhere
• I've never been so keen to both see a city and equally leave it asap lol
• 

Day 9 Amsterdam to Hook of Holland (The Ferry home)

• And there ends my first big adventure.

What I learned.

• My biggest takeaway was: don't take too much stuff.
• Even fully loaded, the bike handled like a dream and never missed a beat.
• But paddling in car parks and at slow speeds, you could really feel it.
• Next time I travel light.
• Things went roughly to plan, but I was never in any rush to be anywhere
• The planned average speed of 40mph suggestion was genius.
• I can't recall whose idea it was, but I was never short on time to be anywhere, so loads of thanks for that.
• In fact, a big thanks to everyone that commented and suggested stuff to me

I'll deffo be doing something next year.

• Either join a trip or sort myself out.

My biggest takeaway was: don't take too much stuff.

It’s the first mistake new tourists make. That and thinking they’ll average 60 mph.

Make a note now (before you forget) of what you really used and valued. That gives you the base line (you don’t need to go far above it) for next time.

Pulled me over to say my lights were too bright. including the standard fit BMW ones.

Suggested I turned then all off, which I did cos he had a gun

He reckoned this is an EU wide thing, anyone else heard of anything like this ?

The chap was actually very sound. Rides a GPZ900 apparently but I didn't hold that against him
