Ho hum........ what to do while waiting to collect my GS?

I walked into the showroom a year ago to pick up some oil for my Ducati ST2 and got chatting to the salesman about the "old fashioned" areoplane engine sitting in a fat moto cross type bike. He offered me a test ride of one but time was pressing so I said no thanks but said I'd come back in in september when work quietened down a bit and take him up on the offer. Work didn't give me a breather until last weekend when, with the sun shining, it got me to thinking about that test ride.

I'm riding my Ducati to the dealers this weekend and coming home on a late 2006 1200GS! The problem is this. I only live 1.5 miles from the bike shop. How can I account for a 4 hour ride and still keep a straight face while lying to the wife about the horrendous traffic jam?!!

In the words of Landrover, One Wife.... Livid!!!!

"Darling, there was a woman giving birth at the side of the road whilst I was returning home to you on my new motorcycle. Clearly, I had to help and to make sure she was OK, I had to accompany her to the hospital and stayed during her 3.5 hours of labour. Anyway, all went well. What's for tea? Oooo and come and have a look at the new bike".

There ya go. Job done. No excuses. Ride.

Enjoy the new bike :thumb

:bounce1 I like the way you're thinking!!! I might use that one as there is a limit to the number of times a small child can need rescuing from a well!:JB

Just tell her your off to pick up your new bike and you'll see her when you see her.Sorted.

Steve.

Its just the start of your problems I'm affraid , she needs to get used to it or you need to get a bloody huge book of excusses:rob
Cos since I picked up my 1st GS last Nov :thumb2, every ride turns into a all day outing,
for example....... one saturday last Dec I left home at 930am saying just popping to the shops dear.............:augie got back about 4pm on the sunday afternoon :) so I had forgotten to say the shops were in Belgium :D:D it was worth the :blagblah:blagblah:nenau

Just riding down to visit my parents this afternoon I turned a 50 mile trip into a 100 mile trip 'accidently' by taking a slight detour. I'm now sitting inside thinking I might go out for another ride while it's nice out... Thankfully no wife to moan at me though!

Well folks, it went like this.........

I picked it up on Friday evening, but I was soooo excited,:blast:JB I decided in my (ha ha ha) wisdom that I better take it straight home and take it out properly on saturday. This is where I encountered my first problem. When I told my beloved:mad: that I was changing the Ducati for "something a little cheaper to run" she assumed that I was going to come home on a Puch Maxi or some other kind of micro crap. So imagine her surprise when I pulled up outside the house.mad:

Saturday was a lovely, quiet day. It was mostly quiet because my beloved:mad: had stopped talking to me about 5pm on friday.

On the (even more) positive side, I clocked up 250 miles over the weekend, without travelling more than about 10 miles from home!
To put it into perspective, I clocked up the grand total of 703 miles on the Ducati in 12 months.

I do hope she doesn't start talking to me again anytime soon as the weather is looking pretty good this weekend!:JB
