At last I got around to loading my video taken last Friday on the Dukes Pass A821 (including appearances by Big Jets and his Mate). Road conditions were pretty good (for a GS anyway) and traffic was light so it was a good run. The video was filmed on Pentax Optio W30 camera (as recommended by GC) attached to the handlebar guard with a small ball and socket tripod head.

I have more video from the day including footage using a low mounted bullet camera over the Dukes Pass filmed at the same time as the one above and some video of the run over from Milton Morenish over to Boxertools Bench at Glen Lyon. Hopefully might get them posted up tomorrow.

that's a nice job love the way it dives really hard into the corners with the camera on the handle bars:thumb2

I laughed at the start. Bat Out Of Hell soundtrack and you're held up by two guys doin aboot 30 mph :D

No bad first effort though. Guid video facility on that wee camera.

Probably not interesting enough to warrant a double posting!

I just thought not everybody has the time to look at all forums, especially individual regional forums, but then again the SS forum must be the most popular judging by posts from all Forum members.

My view was that it had a Scottish interest for people wanting to know about good ride roads in Scotland and a photography interest in type of camera used and mount. :thumb2

Well done, Skyenet.

How much video time can you get out of that camera?

Having checked the files it looks at around 60-70Mb per minute. I use a 8GB SDHC card in the camera so room for around a couple of hours.

The Pentax Optio W30 is a great GS camera and it was on GC's recommendation that I got one. Have done hand held videos here and there, especially in places like rollercoasters/waterslides but this was the first time I had mounted it on the bike.

I am sure I read somewhere that often camera limit files to 2GB as they would otherwise be termed camcorders and in some countries that can affect sales tax.

Nice.......
Where did you get the tripod/ball set up, looks an ideal way of fixing the camera to the bike.
I was looking at a RAM Mount set up, attached to the handlebars but having a tinted screen the pics would be taken through that and have a colour cast.

.

Not quite sure where I got the tripod/ball head but Jessops do one very similar (in fact I reckon it would be better than mine) called the Jessops Ball & Socket Head Medium, and its only £8. I just drilled a hole through my handguards. If I remove it then a small nut and bolt will cover up the hole no problem.

Thanks Skyenet, looks a usefull piece of kit, think i'll have a wander to Jessops :thumb
