Hi all,

I have searched the forums for an answer for this questions with no luck...

I have a 2005 GS Adventure (must be one of the last ones), and its not been 1 month since I got it.

Basically on the motorway I can sit at 80 / 90 mph but the bike is indicating its reving at 5k rpm in 6th gear. Is this aok?

I know the Adventure gearbox has a short 1st to help get started but is the 6th the 'overdrive' as per the normal GS or a short one?

Cheers,

L

if top gear is indicated By 6 it is not the overdrive box. that would show E.

All later GS1150's with overdrive gear were indicated by 6, not E
Only the early ones had the E

Going onto the ADV, it revs about 750RPM more in top gear than an 1150GS with Overdrive 6th gear, at any given MPH

So yours is right and they all have a lower 6th gear ratio

Thanks guys,

Thought I might have a duff clutch or something there. Seems a bit high, but I suppose with it fully laden its best not to break the 75 / 80 barrier. Then again I couldn't break the 60mph with my fully laden XT600 so I should count my blessings.
