I had nothing but deririsive comments from both my wife and my son about the discomfort they were having on long journeys on the passenger seat of my 2009 Adventure. Why? Because the top of the Adventure top box angles forwards and digs into the back of the passenger, despite having fitted the BMW comfort rest pad at the top of the box it was still not passenger freindly!
My solution has been totally succesful and no more complaints any longer as I have now fitted an Rt1200 top box on the back. It is a proper touring box, it has a shaped cushion that works for resting your back into as well as being able to hold 2 full face helmets, and it is 'suited' to the ignition key too

I first had to get hold of a 1200/1300GT topbox 'rack' to mount the top box on, this cost new £140 from BMW. This rack is mounted on to a bespoke stainless steel plate. This I got Mark Hooton ([email protected]) to make up for me(from a template I made up in perspex and sent to him to use) This plate replaces the Adventure topbox 'rack' and uses the same 4 bolts to mount it on the pannier/topbox frame. Marks plate was CNC laser cut in 3mm thick stainless steel with a brushed/polished finish, and it looks bloody good. It is an exceptionally decent peice of kit, and everything fitted first time. The topbox change over has made a world of difference for our biking and looks like it was designed for the bike too, the shape of the RT box fits with the lines of the Adventure and the whole change WORKS!!! No more moans of aches and stabbing pain from the passengers now!

In recommendation to Mark is that your communiication has been top drawer Matey! You give top drawer service with top customer service
If anyone in the club needs a bespoke part purpose made up for you and want it to look the business this man should be given a chance and a call before you talk to anyone else. You'll get a very reasonable price for what he makes and I for one must be one of his happiest customers. Cheers for that Matey and well done! Richard ( if anyone wants to see some photos of what this looks like I will be posting some in the pictures section (otherwise please ask me for and I'll send some to you):clap
