Cant help with the slipping clutch, mine lasted until 80k so unless your riding style is extreme then I dont know, you could look at the engine/gearbox join for signs of oil leakage, or even remove the starter and have a look at the thickness of the plate. the misfire is a small stumble, have you got water in your fuel?
Nice bike by the way :thumb2
fifty quid and I will take it off your hands :D

feck me chap.. 17K - the bikes only just run-in!!

Seems highly unlikely the clutch is cooked at that mileage unless the freeplay at the bottom end of the cable is... inadequate. A fairly common mistake.

why its missing a beat? when were the plugs last changed? Mine occasionally misses at idle - I don't worry about it.

btw - I always say this - nice to see a Kalahari :thumb

I just got it 60 miles into riding home clutch went maybe less but i was taking it easy enjoying the sun. :Motomartin

Water in fuel shrug ill have the tank off tomorrow and clean it all out

No oil leaks I'll have the starter off tomorrow

Adjusted as per this but was told to change A to 10mm and B to 5mm

You need lots of free play on the lever. When you ride it next check it out when riding and you will find it gets less.

You might get hold of some "dry fuel" it an additive that makes fuel/water mix and has a bit of an injector cleaning function too, car accessory shops sell it.

Lol ebay its not any where I live. We still buy oil in foil cartons

:oonyack

My post wasn't about free play at the lever.. but at the bottom end where the cable connects to the Clutch.

Steptoe has in the past mentioned this as being the main cause of premature Clutch death... its often missed/forgotten about.

Under normal circumstances the clutch has a life expectancy of at least 40,000 miles - often a LOT more than that. But adequate free play is crucial.

Well its in bits now :)
Plugs fine just perfect to be honest. :thumb2
Adjusted it again to loose still slipping :blast
Took starter off its dry no oil :) :thumb

Forget play at the clutch lever, all that is doing is adjusting the slack in the cable - you must have play in the arm on the back of the gearbox, otherwise the clutch doesn't/can't fully disengage, which will give you clutch slip.

Cheers Steptoe but is it a case or trail and error on the rear adjustment
The adjustment screw does seem very far out also a bit of play if you move arm ill post a pic and video.

Sorry I am at a bit of a loss and dont want to change clutch if not needed

cheers

You've got the thing in bits anyway...seems daft not to change the clutch while you're at that stage...if it was at a dealer's, you've already done £350 of the £450-ish job

PS change all of the bits, not just the plate ;)

Would do but being made redundant its going to be hard finding the £200 ish for complete clutch kit :(

Bugger it ill just take it all off where's that hammer lol
