It's a little dark in Northern California today but I just got in the new Carbon Fiber parts I ordered so I thought I would post some pics anyway.

What do you think??

Hope this works. It's my first crack a posting a pic.

You've put the image tags (correct) around the last half of the adress on your own computer (incorrect), that's why it hasn't worked.

To show pics like those on your machine, you need to attach them using the attach button at the bottom of a post screen....but to do that, you need to be a sponsor (see button at TOP of screen ;) )

Alternatively, you need to upload the pics to somewhere like smugmug or your own webspace, then use the IMG tags with the full URL inbetween.

Master Dabber wrote a nice FAQ on pics that you'll find HERE

Trying again

This should work

Corbin seat pic...nice

I noticed you have a Corbin seat, how do you like it? I just ordered one and waiting.

John.

Corbin Seat

The Corbin is much better than the stock seat but it's very hard and it's very wide at the front.

I'm going to have another saddle made by Russell (day-long saddles). For that one I'll do a "ride in" service to make sure I'm happy before I go.

Is that a 'GS' van parked outside your house??:D

Mmmmmm.... that does look nice, if not a little expensive

I really like the screen, what's the score on that? Is it cut down or an after market one?

Cheers

Yes. It belongs to a neighbor. I never thought of that before!

The headers could do with a polish

Yup. What do you recommend? I've always thought they just return back to this state after about a week anyway so I've never bothered.

I took a page from another posting on this site and cut it down myself with a dremmel tool. I took about 2 inches off the top and took the sides down to the bend in the screen. I also used tobinators to rake the screen back some. Due to the increased rake I also had to round off the bottom corners of the screen as well. I *really* like it now. No turbulence anymore. A little more wind but, what the hey, that's why I ride anyway.

Why not just buy a Rockster ?

Been there, done that. In addition I've had an R1150R, 2 K1200RS, 2 R1100S, R1100RT, R1150RS... BTW, I loved them all

What I like about the GS is how configurable it is. There is nothing else in motorcycling that change out it's back end in more ways. This makes it possible to tour, commute, canyon scratch...

But then again, everyone already knows that..

It looks really good.:thumb But can the new parts deflect phaser fire? :)

I am going to have to see how much those side panels go for in Canuck-land. 600 pounds is around 1,500 canadian dollars... but is does look cool. Do you have a link to the site cadave?

I got most of the Carbon Fibre thru Sierra BMW

They import these from Ilmberger in Germany. The tank covers and front bill took about two months to get here.

My understanding is that Ilmberger makes these parts for Wunderlich as well. It's probably cheeper thu a distributor of Ilmberger.

Headers?
Sadly the only way to a) clean them and b) manitain them is hard work initially and regular polish thereafter.
I use a Brasso type polish which, whilst it seems less aggresive than Solvol Autosol, does a better job.
If they are really bad then the only way to shift the discolorization is to use varying grades of wet and dry. Yes, it does work, but take care and you are probably best to remove the system anyway.
I have had many happy hours practise on a car with (exposed) stainless headers and several BM's.
For the record I clean (polish) mine every week.
Best of luck.
