My 2015 GSA was due it's second yearly service so I dropped it off on Friday at BMW in Malaga and arranged to collect it later in the day.

When I arrived to collect it they were getting ready to close and they were in the process of washing the bike after its service.

The bike has all the extras fitted, except 'Keyless and 'Shift Assist', and has been 100% reliable from day one. It's not required any warranty work and there is no corrosion.

I rode away from the dealers and everything was fine until I was on the Autovía, about 7 miles (12km) from the dealer, when it died and the 'Engine Management' fault symbol on the dash appeared. I coasted onto the hard shoulder and couldn't restart the bike. Turned it off and on a couple of times but the engine management light stayed on. It's got half a tank of fuel, so it hadn't run out.

It was rush hour and due to being on a narrow section of hard shoulder, 200m prior to a major junction, I wasn't interested in trying to start stripping bits off to try and find a loose connection etc.

Contacted my Breakdown/Recovery company and they had me and the bike collected within 30 minutes, with a taxi at their depot to take me home.

The bike is being returned to BMW Malaga on Monday morning, it'll be interesting to hear what they find!!

I've heard of problems from a dealer of when the bike is downloaded an ECU update during a service which 'doesn't take ' correctly and can cause problems similar to what you describe .

On my bikes 2 year service it took 2 or 3 attempts for the download to be successful ........... simple service took from 8am to 4.30 pm

Fingers crossed that it'll be something fairly simple! :thumby:

Ended up being over enthusiastic JetWashing! :blast

When they connected it up to their computer it showed fault codes on all the electrical parts, they stripped and dried everything and retested, all is now clear.

On the plus side they've offered free oil/filter on next service, which I have in writing! :thumby:
