Hi Timpo.
No puncture piercing.
No foreign objects in the tyre.
The valve stem hasn`t torn out.
The tube just seems to have come apart...
The only saving grace is that we weren`t zooming around the previous twisties of the A51 to Stone or the A518 to Uttoxeter that we`d used earlier in the run.....or on the tight bend of the sliproad we were to join.
We were only on the boring A50 until the A511.
If nothing else,the miles I did ride that day have proven that my carburation mods and set up were successful.
Lets face it - with hindsight - the tube has been in there for how many years ? perhaps it just gave up all hope of ever having a useful life again

The tube that gave way was all of a week old.
I changed the old one as a precaution whilst getting the rear tyre swapped around due to it being fitted reversed originally.
So the gawd knows how old front one was no trouble whilst the week old back one popped.
Yes....I`m putting new heavy duty tubes in front and rear this week,and may as well get new tyres on as well while the bike`s in sick bay again.
The tyres were lowish treadwise but I was keeping them on until the Guzzi had proven itself to be a good runner.

Great looking bike, and echo your comments about Stuart at NLM. Had many a long chat with him about the suitability of some of his "off-road" (note the inverted commas) Guzzis for the UK rallies.

I'm surprised you used black cable ties on the disc cover.......maybe not, you're a sparky and they are probably free
Funnily enough, a few weeks ago I fitted a new tube to one of my bikes, and a couple of days later when I came to use the bike, the tyre was flat. So I whipped the tube out to check it, and the reinforcing area around the valve had not been vulcanised correctly and was leaking. A Michelin tube too.....
Had a replacement exchanged with the bike shop, nqa.

I`d used all my fancy red ones on the old LegoBike,but I`ll be getting some more for the NTX from the Stafford Show in October.
It`s so painful if I ever have to pay for things like zipties,fuses or tape......
I`ll post you a piccy.
There`ll also be a piece of red tubing for the petrol tank fillercap vent.

And I've had to change most of them to black. Fancy using red cable ties to attach black cable to a black frame,

Pains me to say it, but Halfrauds have red ones in stock....get down to Bromborough..now !!!

The A50 picture reminds me of the advice I was given when I first bought a Guzzi: "Always carry a good book, it'll give you something to do while you wait for the recovery service".
Only needed it once, when the Convert rounded the converter oil pump key and boiled ATF down Knaresborough high street. Got through a few chapters of Bruce Chatwin's "What am I doing here?".

When I first bought it,Glambabe asked me if I was going to do the Stella Alpina on it if it ever became a runner again,as she thought it would be great to take an Italian bike back to Italy.
I replied in the affirmative...then she wondered about going to the Guzzi factory on it too.
So I`m hatching a plot about going to the factory then doing the Stella on the way home.
How cool a trip would that be?
By the way,the Guzzi Baja and Dakar bikes are just PURE MOTO PORN....thanks for the pics.

Pretty cool I reckon. The roads down there are just gorgeous - and the lakes are amazing.
