Thought some of you lot would be interested in a review I have done on the Helite motorcycle Air Vest which I recently purchased. I was a bit skeptical at first but after sustaining a tear to my carotid artery last year I started looking at neck braces to protect me in case of a fall. This led me to the Helite Air Vest and after a very convincing demo I bought one. I hope I never have to test it for real  Check out my full video review and the pictures in the link and if you decide to look in to it further email peter at Helite in my Youtube review link and tell him you read about it on UKGSER :thumb

How much? and can it be worn under the jacket and still do the same job?

apparently it can be worn under a jacket but you have to take in to account that for the neck support of the vest to deploy quickly it must not be restricted by a tight fitting jacket. I suppose if it was underneath a light loose jacket it would remain pretty effective but not under a fully armoured twat suit. :D

I've been wearing an airbag vest (a HitAir in my case) for nearly five years, bought one for my partner in the Spring and we both think they're great. To head-off the wiseacres and nay-sayers: no, I don't imagine they're 100% foolproof, no I don't imagine it makes me invulnerable, no it doesn't give me a false sense of security so that I ride faster and take more risks and no, I don't think they're a substitute for conventional armour. They're simply added protection, no more, no less.

You're only reviewing the wearing of the airbag .

The only review worth listening to is from someone that's had to use it's inflationary capabilities as intended.

I am hoping never to review its capability :P Not many reviews on crash helmets, leathers, boots etc that get sent down the road either but peeps are interested in the design, quality and fit of products to help them decide if its for them. In my case I had a special interest in the product because I sustained Carotid artery disection (tear in my neck artery) just over a year ago and was looking to protect my neck from potential re injury. I came across the product at local bike show and was impressed by the demonstration I was given and how it completely immobilized the neck when activated. Most motorcycle riders tend to think of potential injuries as fractures to long bones or skull fractures from impact. My understanding is that frequently it is not the fractures that kill but internal trauma to the chest, neck and spine. God forbid if I ever go for a slide I hope I am wearing the air vest.

Thanks for posting, very interesting.
If the vest is activated can the air bags be re-packed easy enough by the user or is it a 'take it back to dealer' issue?

When the air vest is activated it goes down slowly and can be re used multiple times. The cartridge is changed, trigger mechanism re set and its ready to use again.

See here for re setting:
