My KTM is no more. Was knocked down on Motorway by a taxi, ran for the hard shoulder where the taxidriver stopped as I had to escape approaching traffic, and 5 cars demolished the bike.

Guess the GS will come sooner than expected.....

And I wanted to wait for the 1200 GS Adventure.

But at least you're around to tell your story.

It sounds a pretty scary one too.

It's a bit extreme...

we all know that the GS is brilliant but...
Couldn't you simply have traded the KTM?
Or had "stolen"?

Glad to hear that you're OK.
Shame about the bike though.

Today was you lucky day mate - possibly in more ways than one.

Steve

Im OK..

I nearly died, missed the cars by 10 seconds max.

Luckily I was not knocked unconcious, so close to death, just two days after my birthday!

My right hand is hurt though, but will heal.

Kneepads shattered, but knees are OK. BMW jacket torn many times, .........Was in shock!

Glad you're in one piece Camel :hpbirthda

Did you have the Rallye 2 suit on? How did it stand up?

That's three members of this forum taken out by cars in ten days!

BMW clothing

Yup, was wearing the BMW jacket, the new one, yellow and grey.

Did a perfect job.

My right hand is scratched and grazed, was wearing Italian heated gloves, that were rubbish anyway.

At least you survived pretty much in one piece to ride another day. Glad to hear that.

Bob

ran for the hard shoulder where the taxidriver stopped

Well at least you got a lift home then :eyebrow :eyebrow

Glad you're around to tell us about it me old dromedary....sounds like a nightmare!!!

(and yet another good advert for ATGATT ;) )

alex wow...... i was just going to ask you what were your plans for this snow!

was it M4?

you must give me some advice on those knee guards.

Keep the jacket..... should look even better now...... and can i say "may we on this board be worthy of you on the 1200 now" :moped:

Sorry for the late reply everone, but where I live there is little public internet.

Will have to buy the regular 1200 soon, but wanted to wait for 1200 Adventure next year and keep KTM as a second like. But it is all just a wreck now.

Please get enduro kneepads for yourself, they saved my life. Otherwise I would have broken a knee and not escape the other cars, doing 60-70mph, in time.

Ride safely,.........

Tried to post pics, but me no know how.

Very glad to hear that you survived this close shave...
Go out and buy some lottery tickets immediately...

I tried some enduro pads recently and was impressed by them.
I am thinking of wearing them under draggin jeans as an alternative to conventional pants with a built in knee guards.
It seems obvious to me that the enduro pads would work much better in the event of a spill - is this why you were wearing them?
What do you think would have happened to your knees in regular armoured pants? Hypothetical I know but any thoughts?

Never liked armoured pants, because the knees werent protected enough. Had a bad crash, also because of a car in 2001, and since then I always wear kneepads. Even on 2 minute rides to the shop, as the 2001 accident happened on one of those.
