Just a short ride report...following on from '50cc over Hardknot pass'
My 17yr old asked me if we could head off for a few days touring Scotland on 2 bikes...so that was it, we left St Bees on Saturday in the car with trailer & 2 bikes, and I threw him out at Arochar on his Aprilia RX125.
He rode over Rannoch Moor and Glen Coe, and into Kinlochleven where we got my bike off and we had a wee jaunt up to Fort William and back to the Bunkhouse.
Sunday we went up to LochCarron and over the pass to the Applecross pub...he even had a go at getting up to the phone mast/weather station thing on top...
but gave up part way along. Then round the coast to Sheldaig...his new favourite road, through Torridon and we stayed at Kinlochewe.
Monday took us to Achnasheen and back down to LochCarron, onto Skye and then he asks if we can we see a bit of Skye before getting the ferry, so I sorted out an extended route to Sligachan and over to the West coast and then across to Portree, then down to catch a later ferry to Malaig. Somewhere on the Island I have left a small bag of Skye fudge so enjoy it if you find it...
Took a wee trip to Arisaig and apologies if you were on the beach...it was just too irresistible for him to resist a play in the white sand. Back to Kinlochleven, bikes packed up and asleep by 21:30...me too.
Got back home this afternoon after driving through pouring rain and listening on the radio to Calmac ferries being cancelled due to bad weather.
We were very lucky with the weather and Sam really enjoyed it, it was great having him there on his bike, he rode 478 miles....and best of all he wants to do it again...
