I bought a Garmin Quest today and had a brief and most enjoyable wee try out with it. I had to use it in the car cause I've still to invest in Ram mounts and Autocoms...However, I'm more than slightly pissed off at my 10 month old PC. When I tried to install the softwear, the second disc jams causing the screen to freeze. I've had this problem before with other programme installations (always with the second disc too) so I really must get to the bottom of this now...

I had exactly the same happen when installing mapsource 7 for my 276c - second CD and it all hung up - why?

You know ... I had a similar problem when installing mapsource on my computers.

I think it worked the cleanest when I did it thusly and so:

- insert disc 1, run the setup
- at some point you get a message box saying "please insert disc 2" with an "ok" type button
- DON"T CLICK THE OK BUTTON!
- simply insert disc 2 and i believe the install simply continues on it's merry way
- i think the install actually leaves the window with the "OK" button up on your screen ... just ignore it.

I've had simailar probs in the past with 2 disc programmes. The second disc "jams" my PC. I took the PC back to the supplier who had previously fobbbed me off with "try doing this etc". Bottom line is that I needed a new DVD drive. Repaired and now working.
