That's my first impression of the bike. It's tiny!
How is the suspension, just read in Ride that most find the suspension setup not great and change to aftermarket stuff?
Not sure why anyone would swap out full Ohlins for inferior aftermarket ?
probably just needs setting up properly. My Hypermotard came set straight to go on track so was not very good on road but once set properly it is lush
It's certainly not fat Tosser sized
at 5'10" it is spot on for me - looking at that pic and where his knees are that rider is much taller than me. It looks tiny parked next the GS.Suspension at standard settings is race track firm but it is fully adjustable I have taken the compression damping almost all the way to minimum front and back but left the rebound at about 25% above min and it works brilliantly - however it will never float over a really rough road like the GS.

If like my Ohlins it is all fully adjustable I would seriously recommend taking it to someone who knows what they are doing and have it set up properly ( you may think you know what you are doing but ...) All the sag, both static and rider, measurements etc is not a one man job for a start and that is where you need to start before buggering about with damping and compression
I took mine to an Ohlins specialist and for 30 quid it achieved what i couldn't or wouldn't have without a great deal of time and effort it is now sublime

Took the Thruxton R out for a post running in service blast - love this bike, fantastic torquey engine with serious shove up to 100mph and great handling - perfect modern take on a cafe racer - Triumph have excelled with this machine
Size might be comparable but in every other the respect the Trumpet is the better bike, IMHO.
Done about 1800 miles on the R so far - my considered opinion is that this bike is effing lush

It’s looks the dogs, handles beautifully, the engine fab, the suspension great, the brakes just about the best ever, the shove from the torque is addictive, this has to be one of the most fun bikes ever, oh and it’s cooler than a penguins pecker - the only downside is all that polished metal is incompatible with the approaching winter

And Triumph will just tell you to "fuck off" if you try to attempt a warranty claim on anything involving the word 'corrosion'
I expect they will, as they have told all the dealers to warn their customers that bare polished ally corrodes! Why do they have to do this? Because so many modern bikers are as thick as shit and need their hands holding.
