Well after 2 standard Gs & 2 1200 Adventures I traded for a 2013 Anniversary Rt which I had for 2 years.

Due to the onset of a dodgy hip it had to go so I traded it for aF700GS.

2014 2k miles with all of the bells and whistles.

Thats not me in the pictures Steve Parry from Chester Motorrad who personally delivered it on Sunday to Slough

Hope you get plenty of miles'n smiles in with your new 'bike R-R

You haven't downsized at all ... you've upgraded :thumby:

Thanks guys for the positive responses.

I was a little apprehensive at buying a bike un seen and un ridden but up grading sounds fine to me

Please let it be dry tomorrow

I have a nice set of touratech upper bars for sale .... would look so nice on that :)

I have just run in a new F800GS after a few years riding an R1200GS. When I ride my wife's F700GS it still feel the smoothest easy going bike in comparison. May have a bit less all round but its never left behind except when it comes to putting petrol in, its amazing how little fuel it uses. The only change made to the bike is adding a taller screen (Std F800GS screen with a special fixing bracket to suit the different tank panel mounting)
She cannot imagine needing anything different.

Very nice bike,i was looking at the F700GS but being six foot three i thought i could get away with the 800. I am unlikely to do any off roading so i am still not sure if i made the right choice. Hope you enjoy the bike.

You have made a good choice. I have 'rightsized' from a R1200RT to a F700GS just recently. I am really enjoying my biking again. The bike is more manageable that the RT and great fun to ride. I did consider the F800GS but found it a bit too high to get aboard! Happily doing 180 - 200 mile days out with no issues. Enjoy

It's no good going on about how good these 650/700/800's are ... the big boys won't be convinced, they need the biggest bike available between their legs, to supplement their sex drive and ego :D

I took my 1200 GSA in to Rainbow for a service and they lent me F800 GS and to
go home on
Well well well ... What a surprise
I think I may have met my next bike !
Lovely slick gear box . Very easy to ride,
and I found I could push it up the slight rise into the garage ...piece o piss
I was however taken a bit by surprise at how tall it is
Only thing I struggled with was the wind blast
What is the basic difference between the 700 and the 800?
....other than 100 Is the 700 less tall

Oh ,the one I borrowed ,red frame white tank was nearly new ..400 miles and it looked up as if my GSA ally luggage will fit

Same motor (800cc) but in a lower state of tune, more road orientated suspension and wheels so lower. Otherwise not much.

the 700 is a lot lower than the 800, both are the same 800cc engine but the "700" variant has 75hp instead of the "800's" 85hp

The 700 also has cast wheels with a 19" front, which allows tubeless tyres. The "800" has spoked wire wheels with the front being a 21" to take off road style tyres.

The screen on the 800 is bigger than the 700, and the 700 has a gearbox with 1 tooth more on it to suit its more on road use, the 800 has the lower gearing to aid its off road abilities.

That's good info ...thanks

I will try the 700 it sounds more like "me"

i'm reading the thread with great interest.... i have been seriously considering selling my 2011 1200GS for the last month or so, and have been looking at the 800GS, however i have also been looking at the Triumph Tiger 800 XCx which is available lowered, jury is out just now, the Triumph gets better reviews for a "Road" oriented adventure bike but capable of off road excursions, the GS better for off road based excursions, i am drawn towards the Tiger just now... :hide ..
