I picked her up this afternoon, rode home and then took most of the panels off to fit the BMW engine protectors! The "rider" in the first pic is my son trying it for size :D

I got out for a brief ride this evening and everything felt good. ESA II is a nice toy to have and I could certainly tell the difference in settings.

The OEM tyres are Bridgestone BT-021s. I've not heard too many good things about these tyres and I thought Bridgestone quickly replaced them with 023s. The front dropped into bends quickly, but I'm reserving judgement until they are scrubbed in tomorrow. They could be quickly replaced if they're not up to scratch!

I put a BT021 on the front of my RT while it still had a BT020 on the rear, worse combo I've ever known. Front felt like it was going to slip out any moment, like riding on ice :( Both were soon replaced with BT020's soon after

Nice bike :thumb

Mine came with the Metzeler Z6's which worked well, but I replaced them with the Avon Storm II Ultras, which have worked very well in all conditions.

I've managed to do 170 miles on her so far and I think the 021s are destined for the bin. Just like you, ebbo, I'm struggling to be completely confident in the front. No slides or anything, but it doesn't feel planted. Thanks for the comments on other tyres - they all sound a better bet than the 021s. :thumb2

I was thinking of putting on a set of Pilot Road 3s, especially now that the cold and wet will soon be upon us...

Thanks Charles. I must say I'm loving the plush suspension on the RT after the bone-jarring ride on the Duke!

Jeez! £9995 is a real bargain for someone. If I could have afforded it, I would have kept the Diavel as well and added an Ohlins shock to sort out the ride at the rear, but that's a serious amount of money to have sitting in the garage most of the year.

Lovely bike Malc. Good luck with it. I still miss mine :(

Cheers mate :thumb I liked it from the start, but I'm liking it more and more as I ride it. That's the way it should be I guess :)

That's how it has been with my RT Malc. 12000 miles on it and it just gets better and better.

That's good news Bob :thumb2 I'm looking forward to a long relationship with the RT. I had my GS for five years and expect to keep the RT for a similar length of time.

Malc,

Is the colour the 2012 midnight blue? I saw one in the flesh yesterday and it is a great combination with the silver on the lower part of the bike.

Hello mate. Yes it is. Looks lovely in the sunlight. Just came back from taking her to the Peak District today and the colour looked great in the afternoon sun :thumb2
