Hi, new here just wondered if anyone could help with the following:

There is no spark at the plugs and the tachometer has stopped working - but everything else works... The HAYES manual doesn't give enough detail for me to try and fix the problem plus electrics aren't my forté!

If anyone can help, or has experienced this and can describe what to do - I'd be very grateful!

Thanks again,
Jackie

Hi mate...this isn`t really the Forum for asking such things because it`s the introductory Forum and it isn`t really good Forum etiquette to come straight in with a question.

Try posting in the more apt 'Other Bikes' Forum because it isn`t a GS or G/S or even a g/s.......but you may get away with it in the Airheads Forum.

Oh yeah....For a 'first check' try the fuses (ignition one seems favourite) or connections for the coil.
As well as killswitch and any cutouts on stand or clutch interlock, plus neutral switch.

try the motobins forum, there are guys there who rebuild the 'bean can' ignition units and know the system inside out.

If its a Mono, they were renoun for the coil going (rev counter signal comes from coil)

Hi, And welcome to the mind readers forum :D

I know your new, but you've given us as much detail information as your haynes manual did for you.

What year of bike ???

Welcome to the site John Cochrane (or is it Jackie) ... I'm going to move your request for help over to the technical section of the site as this is more reserved for the 'hello, I'm new... etc etc.'

Good luck with the bike, hope you get it sorted soon.

BTW if you need any parts for the bike you'll need to become a site sponsor before you can post in the 'For Sale & Wanted' area, you can view but its currently locked out to you. We have a link at the top of the header page if you wish to use it.

:)
