One of our Super10 colleagues " illustratedman " had asked me what I thought of the " winglets " form my modification thread ( see here http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=317244&page=1 ) so I thought Id throw up a thread.

Bought them with a little anticpiation, wondering were they going to work. And yes, they do work, and very well. They take a few mins to fit, very easy. I was in Scotland on the bike in May this year, the wettest bike outing I have ever had ( we cut short the trip after 4 days of solid rain ) and the deflectors made a major difference against wind, rain & the cold.

Basically, they turn it into a fully functioning cockpit.

They are original Yamaha parts ( 23P-F83M0-00-10 )

I commute ALL the time on the bike and the odd blast at the weekend. Being Irelamd, we usually get rain. The winglets work great, they offer A LOT more protection in the wind & rain and really help to quash any buffeting for both me & my pillion. Makes riding the bike more comfortable.

are there different shape/spec of deflector or are they all the same ? ie OE Yam ones against say Powerbronze versions ??

Get the Yamaha ones, really good quality and you know the spec will be bang on which will make them funciton correctly re wind / noise.

Winglets

I am getting a vibration/buffetting around the base/chin of my crash helmet - how do these winglets improve things?

I found benefit myself, its a little quieter and less buffeting. If you're out in the rain they are handy, they do deflect the weather.

I have the strandard screen on as the weather was ok, but its much improved with the MRA Vario which I will be throwing back on this week - weather is getting sh1t again.
