just ordered one of these for the road king i see it more as a nod to a design hailing from the early days of the vw golf it does not have the detailing of the GTI model but is more like the std golf

As i started to read through this thread the song Arnold Layne suddenly started playing in my mind...

It just sort of holds everything together, in a flamboyant yet understated display of old world come new world design.
I can well imagine those old boys of a bygone age sat around on old tea boxes with their check shirts rolled up, knocking ideas round.
Eventually one came up with that glorious pinnacle of lamp design, no doubt the original was scrawled on the side of a fag packet.
It makes me proud to be a part of that classic brand.
