:roll Hi all,

I have recently produced a rear splash guard for my R1200GS and a fellow member has asked me to `evolve` it more towards one made by our German Brethren namely MV Motorrad gmbh. Here is my `take` on it and, as always, I have tried to engineer the arse out of it :bounce1 or to put it another way tried to simply make it better

a>

Although it hopefully looks lovely (hand finished blah blah blah :blagblah:blagblah) from the rear it has, as I believe, the following advantages over the one from the Teutonic Chappies

1. Being stainless, it affords longer life and looks sh*tloads better (take a look for yourself)
2. Although you cannot see the backside it`s ribbed (ooerr) either side so that it greatly reduces the risk of the number plate being broken in a spill
3. It also protects the rear of the number plate from small rocks/missiles etc because the stainless back covers quite a bit of it.
4. It`s made in Britain, one at a time, by a craftsman or someone who cares that much about his work he signs it (if he can remember...............)
5. Apparently the bl**dy thing also works very well! To be honest, I have no idea but I am told that it greatly reduces the crap thrown up over the rear of the bike and your back (any comments on the validity would be appreciated).

I`ll also be doing them for our GSA Brothers and will, for beer money, also personalise them as I have with the front crud catchers :clap

Not sure how much they will be yet but, as always, they will be hugely underpriced :JB

Any constructive feedback, enabling me to make an even better Product of Lurve for YOU the appreciate biker, is always greatly appreciated and muchly considered with due humility (I wish I DID know it all!).

Regards, don`t forget to take a look at my site for all the other Beemer works of art I do.

P.S. Oh yes, sorry, it mounts on the existing plate fasteners so there is no drilling - woohoo

ha

I am going to make out that I know what you mean now and say `Oh yes mate, I know what you mean but no, haven`t thought of it`

:clap

Marc, have you thought of making the pivot covers for a 1200GS.

Go on, look at the RHS just behind the footrest at three ugly screws in a circular recess and say slowly "Ahh, pivot covers!"
:thumb

Ahhhh pivot covers

I thought you meant those or the frame protectors but wasn`t sure.

Soz, answer is still no - the issue is simply with time at the moment, if I don`t do a rack to fit for the GSA boys I think they are going to hang me

Yep, should not be a problem to suit an F800

Yeah, can`t see it being a problem. Dosh me up if you want me to make one (I still don`t know how much they will cost yet so bear with me.......) - I`ll make one and post it to you and if it doesn`t work for some bizzarre reason then send it back for a full unconditional no arguement refund or I`ll make you another one (I am not really doing this stuff with the commercial `focus` I do my day job so be assured you won`t loose out!)

The only issue I can see is that your mounting holes might be in the wrong place - can`t really see it and it would only need redrilling anyway but I am just playing `devils advocate`.

Does all that bollocks I have just drivelled on about help? :)

Best regards,

Mark.

Full image

here is an image of the component before fitting - should have put it on an earlier post actually - sorry :augie

It shows the location holes and the two flanges either side which give it`s ridgidity.

Already ordered mate and :drool with anticipation also it will stop all the smart arse mates :pullface:pullface:pullface taking the pissout of my cut down paint tray :flag

Hi Mark,

It looks great. I will probabley have one off you mate.
Have you got a few more pics of it, perhaps on the bike from the side etc.

Cheers,
Noel

As an aside

I also have a CB1300 (lovely bike but no where near as good as the R1200GS as an all rounder) and I have designed and made a chain guard for it - yes the crud catchers are good, sexy, purposeful and great value but, lads, take a look at this for a work of art....

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42401091@N06/4426361201/" title="honda int size by cymarceng, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4064/4426361201_e0896680d1_o.jpg" width="448" height="336" alt="honda int size" /></a>

It is, truly, good enough to lick, and I have :drool it`s my aim to come up with something as lovely (albeit in my opinion) for my R1200GS :clap

Actually, while I am on a self imposed adoration session :comfort, here`s an image of some covers I made for the Kwack KLV boys

a>

And here`s a couple of CB`s at my factory (one is mine) sporting my radiator covers

a>

And this one is of a frame protector I designed for the Suzuki V Strom (don`t buy one of these - the bike that is)

And finally, I have made stuff for clients in Australia, isreal, Finland, Sweden, USA and Canada and I recently got an order from BMW Motorrad so, be assured, the stuff you shell out your hard earned cash for is pucker, gents, and I always recommend a look at my ebay reputation as evidence that I aint just doing this for the dosh! And, finally, finally, after 25 years of biking the best bike I have ever owned has got to be my very own R1200GS!

Thanks for all the support, you all (without exception) have provided excellent support and encouragement for me especially when I have been f*cked off with all the hours I have put in. Every customer remains very welcome at my factory and a tour of what i get up to for my day job at www.cymarc.co.uk and don`t forget the bike parts at www.cymarcbikeparts.co.uk

to all.
i am the member that asked mark to make a rear crud catcher like the one above.
i have also bought the crud catcher and heel guard and can only praise the quality of the work.
it looks great on bike and does the jobs they are meant for.
anyone parting with their money wont be disapointed.:beerjug:

......just a thought, you may want to consider making it so it covers the entire rear of the numberplate. I had to make up a similar item to stop my numberplate melting.

Yep

Yes, I have - the standard one I make nearly covers it anyway but members just need to ask if they want a larger one as I`ll do it for them no probs.
