who is your internet service provider??

it could be if you have a dynamic ip adsl account, you are being given a german ip.

all ips are classified by country and isp. some websites have a database of where ips come from.

go to www.whatismyip.com the next time it happens, and PM me the ip and i will look into it.

Yahoo?

I have the same thing sometimes. E-bay is always trying to get me to open the german language pages. :mcgun

Edited now.

1) No but my laptops an IBM from work. IBM do our IT support.

2) Logged on to the works network via a VPN client from home. Got a VNC thingy as well, not sure what that does?

3) Not sure about proxies?

4) BT Broadband.

Hope this helps :thumb2

OK.. because you are logged on to work, you are going via your work network... this is probably why you are getting german myspace.. they will use proxies (servers that increase the security from the internet on your work network. more details here: http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/p/proxy_server.html)

try not logging on to VPN and see if it still happens.

problem is the chances are you will not be able to browse the internet without logging on as IE (Internet Explorer or whatever browser you are using) will be setup to only use your work proxies.

VNC is a remote control program that allows IBM to log in to your machine and fix things remotly. I use the same thing.

Let me know.

At the risk oh abuse being hurled, I am part of EDS so we have our own infrastructure. Obviously operating out of germany for our european operations.

It all becomes clear, it seems my works server is in Mannheim, Germany. Must remember to disconnect from the VPN connection when I've done with work.

Thanks charliegadget :thumb2

Don't suppose you know what "Tivoli Management Framework Endpoint Statistics" means, yet another desktop icon on my laptop that nobody told us the use of?

Code:
Tivoli Service Management enables clients to better manage their infrastructure, operations and IT processes, to more effectively deliver services aligned to business goals.

or another way of saying it...

Code:
Tivoli software from IBM helps you to understand and proactively manage the business value of your IT infrastructure for the on demand world.

or do you mean....

Code:
Tivoli, the classical Tibur, is an ancient Italian town in Lazio, about 30 km from Rome, at the falls of the Aniene river, where it issues from the Sabine hills. There are spectacular views out over the Roman Campagna.

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

EDS... :blast

:mcgun EDS

j/k... being from a software development company, some of our customers want to use our software but it has to be "tested" and "approved" by EDS (because they use them for everything IT i.e DWP and other government agencies!) and that process can take up to a year!!
