I'm a bit puzzled about the blue teleportation-pod like structures seen alongside the motorways. They do have a glass dome on top, and always wondered what that is for.

A mystery than needs solving.

Fresh thread created.

Like er-minio, I have wondered about the futuristic blue pod like things, too.

My best bet is that they are some server/electrical rooms of some sort. Maybe the dome is an easy way to make life easier for the eventual technician that has to work inside? Wouldn't help with the temperature in summer though...
I should have a picture of those somewhere.

Weird, I never really noticed them, and I ride around there quite a lot. Interesting story.

And, yes, they seem to exist only in the norther autoroute network.

Found the picture:

Even the French forums & Wikipedia don't seem to know exactly what they are.
The consensus seems to be control pods for the illuminated gantries and other electronics.

All sorts of wild guesses from a cage for Boris Johnson and breeding/refuges for snails and other gastropods because the barriers can withstand 10 40 ton trucks charging them and the little fellows will be kept safe

A Dalek hatchery.

The gantry has "crash barrier" rings near top of it that look like the rings on the pod.
Must be related.
