Having acquired a replacement tank for my bubbling plastic tank on my 1100 I was curious to see what was causing the bubbles so I burst one and then another and carefully using a razor blade scraped back several years of paint jobs one on top of the other! I can count 9 layers or primer/paint. The paint that came off is very rubbery and bends and flexes, it's almost like its made of vinyl.
PS. I have for sale said tank if anyone is interested. It doesn't leak but does now need a new paint job.
