K75s-170,000 miles not a single hiccup.

R65-225,000 miles,just a clutch.Thats almost a quarter of a Million miles

Sold my 2001 1150GS loan bike a few months ago - 99K miles all ok

Got an old MT 500 and the book tells you how to destoy it with a bomb, on my second engine and 3rd speedo an it still going strong.suppose that makes it not bomb proof then.

In 32 years, riding my own bikes and a dozen or so riding the firms, only two bikes have had a problem that stopped me at the roadside, both were wet weather related.

The first (and my first bike), a Yamaha DT that didn't like wet weather and would pack it in if it got even slightly moist and my second R100GS. The latter was my fault as I had managed to crack the insulation on a terminal on the coil and when the water found it's way in it would die (it took me a while to figure out the cause too :o ).

Others have had problems but nothing major (so far!).

The K100 series were pretty bulletproof - I have heard of several K100's which have been round the clock more than twice

hmm let me see

Well I've had many many jap droad/dirt bikes and all have been good. Currently on a GS 1150A and I ride it hard. Do the odd enduro, like to pop wheelies and generally flog it.
Did a clutch ( self inflicted ) and a drive shaft ( wheelies ) other than that no issues. Like all kit if you look after it with good oil, general maintence and all that they should all server the rider well for many years. Got a mate who just rides his bike ( Jap ) and has lots of issues, dosent wash it ( best way to find faults before the let you down ) nor fettle it in any way, then is pi55ed when it breaks down.

I say any bike is a good bet appart from those cheap chink copies ( still yet to prove worth ) but at £700 odd for a new one who would care!!

I can rate the GS but and would never sell it, unless I really managed to bollocks it up. Still even then would fix it.

I also have a ducati 748, lots say whoa!! stay away from them but never had any faults with it. ( Currenly pending insurance write off as was run over at this years TT by blind lady driver )

What ever floats ya boat.
