MZ1000ST or 1150GS

As it happens, my nearest dealer is an MZ/Suzuki dealer. There are more of them than you think.

I fully agree with what has been said about buying new and depreciation. However all my life with vehicles i've spent time sorting out somone elses abuse and neglect. I've never had a new vehicle and am now 40. :tears Just sometimes you feel like walking into a shop and saying to yourself 'what the f**K!' :D

Couldn't afford to do it in a BM dealer though :yikes (I'm not that crazy)

Just don't fancy Japanese, although I'm the first to admit they're very well engineered.

As for Italians, they've always seemed to be ......too Italian if you know what I mean ( and :tears )

sea lion,

I know what you mean, the Tiger I mentioned earlier in this thread was my first new vehicle of any kind. Im 43 and always by second hand, usually about 4 year old because that's the time things get to a good price but are usually still looking and run well.

I have to say it was a nice feeling getting a new bike from the dealers :thumb but that good feeling was nothing like the pissed off riped off feeling I had when I seen how much it depreciated in just 18 months and 17000 miles. :spitfire

Have toyed with the idea of changing my bike this spring. Presently got a red 95 1100gs but have always had a secret passion for a blue/white 1150. Seemed faily straight forward.....However......
Saw the new MZ1000ST last weekend. £6999 inc full luggage. Looks v.sexy, and very well made (and I'm sorry to say looks better made than new BM's).
1000cc parallel twin engine.117bhp.

What do you reckon then, has anyone any experience of the MZ. They seem to have moved a million miles away from the comunist 2 strokes.

Get a fully loaded VStrom for the same money!

Saw one in dealers that had been ridden through a winter.

Unbeleivable amount of corosion that just should not have been there.

No differnt to the Beemer if it's not looked after properly!

I put my Gixxer through three winters and 34k and it looked better than my brand new GS after one winter with 9k :nenau

MZ's are great - I had a baghira for 3 years and it was ace. It never let me down other than a duff battery replaced under warranty (they all did it) and it was huge fun with far more character than any jap bike. Stainless exhaust, stainless fasteners, decent components (WP shock, 'zochi forks) for £4000. Compared the latest pathetic attempt at a 'street moto' by honda (cheapo build, gutless 30hp dominator engine when they could have put the XR motor in and another 1000 quid) its fab. I only traded it for a GS (got £2k with 23000 miles on it) cos I had a stack of cash and a need for a comfy seat and longer tank range. If MZ had done a GS-alike version of the 1000cc I would have bought it instead of the BM.
