Namibia & South Africa

Should have said. My sister lives in Windhoek. I recognise the places you have been. Fantastic trip it must have been.

Who did you hire the bikes from?

We did a South Africa-Namibia-Zambia-Botswana trip in 2012 on rented XT660s from the same guy (Craig -- whose son is called Austin :) ) although his company was called DualSport South Africa then. I well remember riding along a rough desert road in Namibia near Fish River Canyon; sun blazing down and the road was a mix of rock and sand along which my wife wouldn't go quite quick enough to get a slightly cooling airstream and said over the headsets could we stop at the next shade. "What Fucking shade" I replied (a tad annoyed at the slow pace as well as being hot and bothered myself). Around us was quite literally nothing but rock, sand and more rock and sand..... No trees, no shady caves, no buildings, no shadows, not anything for about the next 50 miles. It is a harsh but beautiful country and not for the faint hearted.

Thanks for the memories.:clap

Craig and Neil still run DualSport Africa in some sort of partnership I believe but could not definitely swear. The choice of bikes from there various entities are Bmw, Yamaha and Honda I believe. It is a harsh but beautiful country especially on a bike, the vastness of the place is disconcerting giving new meaning to being in the middle of nowhere. Next time Namibia 4x4 , same price per day as motorcycle although obviously the won't be an adventure because I won't be on a bike:augie.
