Anyone here done this mod? Had a set of Magnums on the previous GSA and thought I would try a Nautilus. I know they will fit on the standard GS but any thougts on mounting one on a GSA with the electronic suspension?

BMW GSA horn

I too am looking for a better horn on my GSA (Alpine White 07). The standard horn sound is not in keeping with such a big bike. I had the BMW twin horns on my RT and they were excellent, especially in traffic. How easily will either the Magnum or Nautilus wire into the BMW's wiring?

The actual wiring is very straightforward. Both types of horn (magnum or Nautilus) need a relay which will require a direct battery feed, then, using a can-bus plug or cutting off the existig horn plug, the live feed is taken to the twin/single feeds onto the new horn. On my previous GSA (pre ESA) I used a pair of twin Magnums mounted just above the fuel pump in the near side fairing. Its a tight fit but will fit.
I will get something sorted out this week and, unless there are any beter ideas, will probably use the same location but will post some pics as I go through the job.

Absolutely nothing.

Like this post has absolutely nothing to do with you if you are not prepared to provide me with a constructive answer to a genuine query!

Nautilus horns

Not the Nautilus, but I fitted a single Sebel Magnum to my 06 GSA as the standard horn I thought was somewhat pathetic.

It was amazingly simple. Ordered the horn and an approriate lead from Nippy Normans. Item Numbers STB-CANBUSKIT and STB-ZZZ.

Removed the original BMW horn by undoing its mounting bracket, unplugged the existing wires and removed it from the bracket. Bolted on the Magnum onto the bracket, connected the wires to the two lugs on the horn, plugged in the plug on the Nippy Normans lead into the standard BMW plug and tested. All Ok. Bolted the bracket back on. All good.

Hi , seem to have read someplace thet the Nautilus horn don't fit the 1200 Nippy Normans are worth a call they could tell you straight. By the way I like Alpine white. Saw a new tiger the other day Guy had just picked it up. Real cool with that black engine. White seems to be the colour this year Honda fireblade is available in White. hope you get sorted bud.

Thanks good'oleboy. Having now seen the Nautilus it is way too big to fit onto the GSA. Nippy Normans site also confirm that. I will therefore order a Magnum off them along with the Canbus wiring kit. Apparently there is no need for a rely - just plug'n'play!

Thanks for the help and guidance from fellow Tossers!:beerjug:

I have tried fitting a Nautilus in just about every location I really cannot see it being feasible. The place I put the twin Magnums on my previous GSA (withough all the electronic suspension) was in the top left hand fairing above the fuel pump area. On an 08 model there is just no way I can even get one horn in there. It seems more has changed than I thought between the two models. Currently looking at the less appealing option of mounting them under the beak.
A single horn will not need a relay...but a twin will. It all depends on how much you want to improve things over the standard.
Any thoughts on locations would be gratefully received!
