Had a go at updating the maps on my nav4. Thought rather than go down the "delete this file " "leave that" route to make room, I'd use a spare 8Gig micro SD as a buffer.
Downloaded the update to the computer 1st, then connected the nav. Within a couple of minutes, I was given the "not enough room" prompt so chose to use the SD card. "Checking card" commenced, but seemed to go on forever so I cancelled.
Looking on the card were some remnants of previous failed attempts so I erased the card.
Attempt 2 went slightly better, the card was instantly recognised & the file transfer commenced. After approx 45 mins, I was informed the map update was complete.
Turned the unit on, 2015 maps appeared to be there BUT there was no post code search facility or POI's available.
Repeated the process, this time after a factory re-boot & got the same result as attempt 1. (Lost my Bluetooth settings too!)
Decided to see what would happen if I exchanged the SD card back to the original factory supplied one.
This seems to have restored the search functionality & POI's
I've probably not done it correctly but it seems to be ok.
