Hi, i m about rejoin the fold and purchase a 1250 GS Exclusive, my question is, is the nav 6 that much better than a 5?

I have a 5 and have thought about upgrading to a 6 and I cant quite justify it.
however.... if I was in your position I would certainly be buying the 6
the 5 is a god bit of kit, but is quite an "old model" now - garmin don't do software upgrades for it anymore (it still gets map updates at the moment)
The 6 is a step up terms of screen (brightness and resolution) and processing power (which affect the speed it can route or re-route) and has some nice new features which you may or may not appreciate (like streaming music stored on your phone and not just on the SD card)
i'd go for the 6

Really ? Garmin still do updates for my 10 year old 660/Nav IV ?
are you sure? when was the last time you had one? - the 660 is ancient - I though they stopped updates when I sold mine on in 2013
I'm fairly sure the '5' has dropped off the updates list but happy to be corrected.
either way, the '5' is a zumo 595 which is also, what, a 5yr old device?

The Zumo range appear to be well supported
My Sh 550 was updated with SW & options last time i hooked it up- I objected to the map price, so left that at the level it was when i bought it

I'm still getting software updates & annual map updates on my Zumo 660. Last software update was last week. However my new Nav VI is streets ahead (excuse the pun) of the Zumo in terms of functions, readability, etc. As mentioned above, I think the Nav IV was based on the 660, but the 660 fits into and is powered by the Nav VI cradle on my 1250GS
Yup, my ancient Zumo 550 with lifetime maps got itself updated a few weeks ago.

Yep I use mine all the time.
nav 5 came out in 2013 so almost six years old.

yeah i use mine all the time too - but it hasn't had a firmware update for.... well i can't remember the last time!
it gets map updates and it gets updates to things like the "timezone adjustment" - but im fairly sure there hasn't been any revision or update to the operating firmware for quite some time.
edit - it was 2016 - that was the last update for the Nav5:
