Nav 5 sun shade from Nippy

It works for me ...

Hello, I have one of these... it works fine.
It makes the fitting into the mount a bit tighter but not excessive.
It comes with some sticky pads to keep the sunshade permanently attached to the sat nav unit, but I did not use those (so I can use the sat nav without the sun shade if I need to).
Cheers!

Fits just fine. I found that the bottom tabs dont fully grip the bottom of the nav unit due to the flexibility of the plastic. I applied some gentle heat and rotated the bottom section upwards to provide a bit more grip. In any event once its all fitted in the nav mount it isnt going anywhere. Does shade the screen from bright sunlight so its a thumbs up. I'm sure you could cobble something together with cardboard and velcro but why bodge?

Why bodge? - good question but around £25 for a small scrap of plastic seems a trifle excessive. I hate to think of the manufacturers sitting in their Chinese factories thinking we bikers are mugs who will pay any price ..... and then NN thinking the same as he despatches them

Holy sunshades Batman 1 !

The item fits and works fine on the nav 5 ... If you want one go get one soon as the sun won't be here much longer this year

And you can make sandwiches cheaper than buying them from M&S.

We are not paying for just for a bit of plastic, it's the idea, a lot of R & D, and then the balls to go ahead and get it produced, if it's injection molded the steel dies can cost many thousands, (although it might be plastic printed) it's not always bang-on at the first attempt, so you have to fettle for perfection, then you have to hope that market forces will will strong enough to cover your costs and efforts, and that somebody else doesn't come along and copy the idea using the sample that you have just spent ages producing.

For less than a tank full of gas on a GSA, I don't think that it's so bad, and I think that it's good that we have these aftermarket companies such as Cymark, Wunderlich, Machine Art etc making some superb products that arguable could have been available on or for the bike from the main dealers. :augie

I brought one of these when they first came out, I had to shave some material off the back as the locking mechanism wouldn't work and it is also missing a hole for the light sensor!!
I now use one from shapeways that has no fitting issues!

It's about a personal appreciation of value for money. I'm happy to give £25 per month the the local air ambulance but feel that the sunshade is a bit too expensive at the same price

I have one and it works superbly with no fitting issues. Also unclips for use in car or slipping in pocket. Yes, it is a lot for what it is but I tend to value things by what are they worth to me. So if it does the job and is aesthetically pleasing it's money well spent.

Got one too. Not too impressed with it. It's a tight fit in the Nav mount, as posted above. Also the bottom does not secure well. Flimsy material of shade the problem. Posted a fair review of it on NN website but not posted up!!!!!!!! Does shade the Nav.

Does it fit on the BMW nav V locking base ?

Yes on the RT the shade slips over the top of the nav and clips into the base ....can't see it being an issue on the GS/A

Anyone tried it with the NAV 5 mount with the buttons down the left hand side?

I've got a different brand of shade (might be same unit though) - and it won't fit, but might - with a bit of judicious trimming with a dremmel. The space between the Nav V and the button housing is too narrow.

Well it fitted - bit tight but OK. Did Dremel a tiny bit off the mount to get it to fit better but not really needed :)

I bought this cheapo one for £7.95, OK quality, fits over with two elasticated straps, does the job.....Hasn't fallen off... well not yet anyway:bounce1
