Nav 6 control issue

I had this problem and it finally went really bonkers scrolling through screens on its own coincidentally on the way to get my bike serviced. They tested it and contacted Garmin, who have to give approval for replacement, not BMW. They gave the OK after the dealer tried the removal of battery reset which did not work.

Rode away with a brand new one.

Seems like it could possibly be a batch issue if so many are having the same problems.

Good info, cheers

Mine has taken to jumping around and swapping screens of its own accord

Mine been doing just that for the lat two days. Plugged into the computer, cleaned pins and contacts, reset via pressing and holding power button, then by removing battery and leaving fir an hour it was still same old shite.

So this morning I have thought and come up with what seem to be a solution ( has worked for me so far)
I wear Rukka Virium gloves and these have touch screen compatible thump snd index finger tips. I used my index finger while wearing a glove and basically pressed and rubbed entire screen from top to bottom all the way along, then horizontally left to right, following by diagonal movement in both directions. This seem to have solved my problem and on my way home it was perfectly fine.

Ok, called BMW dealers again, this time was told contact Garmin support, they knew exactly what I was on about, emailed the reset procedure, carried that out, no change..
Emailed Garmin again, explained it didn’t work, asked for authorisation to show BMW to replace unit, got a reply, same as previous, reset procedure, sent email back again stating it didn’t work, please clarify what’s next..?

I must admit, the process for me was easy. My dealership (Dick Lovett Bristol) have a brilliant service department. The guys there saw the issue for themselves, contacted Garmin for me whilst I drank their coffee and ate their biscuits, jumped through a few hoops to satisfy Garmin, then opened a cabinet and handed me a new one. Job done.

What a wanker dealer you must have. May I suggest that if you purchased the unit from a bmw dealer you phone or call in and remind them that under the sale of goods act it is they who are responsible for sorting it out. And if they can’t then insist on a refund. They didn’t make it but it’s the sellers responsibility to sort it. If they won’t and if you paid for it on a credit card then get onto the card company and make a claim for a full refund from them. They will reimburse you in full and take up the matter on your behalf with the seller. Then use your money and order new Nav from a proper dealer like mine - Alan Jefferies in Bradford. They will post one to you the next day.

Thanks guys, I’m beginning to lose a little faith in the dealer myself, I’ve also got a starting problem on a F700 that’s 6 months old, suspect battery but they tested it & found nothing wrong, charged me for testing it & the charge rate tho..
I’m a little lucky I can test things myself but not always got time..

Haha, email reply from Garmin, follow procedure for master reset, do map update again.. handled by different operatives, no continuity, asking the same questions, I’ll set about it now for the 3rd time.. Joys

Ok.. RESULT..
I’ve no doubt Garmin support are the ones to contact.
First they sent me reset procedure, easy job but you lose favourites etc.
Then plug into Garmin Express to do map & system updates.
If that doesn’t work (which in my case it didn’t) they authorised Bmw dealer to supply a replacement.
I forwarded it on to Shaun in parts, should be all in hand.
