I know a lot has been discussed about this problem with the Nav 6. I have a Nav 6 that is probably 2 to 3 years old and has been faultless until earlier this year. My bike had been parked in the garage over the winter and when I went out on my first ride the Nav began ghosting. After a bit of research I discovered that the likely cause was dampness so I put the Nav of a warm radiator for a couple of hours. Hey presto it now works as it should. Worth a try if anyone is having similar problems. I apologise in advance if this has already been mentioned.

Hopefully it will be fine then, but don't be supprised if it reoccurs. My first quickfix was to give the screen a good clean. Didn't last long before ghosts returned. It's a simple to arrange free replacement thankfully.

It is a known issue with the Nav VI in the first and second interations. I had the same issue and contacted Garmin UK. I explained the problem and they gave me a reference number and instructions on how to send the unit back to them. Despite the fact that it was over 6 years old, they treated it as a warranty issue and replaced the whole unit, free of charge. The latest version works differently and does not have the issue.

Same here, had a very occasional issue, Garmin replaced it with the new GPS foc. 👍🏻

Yep. Get on to Garmin UK and get a replacement. The new ones have different screen technology which supposedly solves the ghosting issue which seems to come to all of the original ones eventually…

I was convinced it was ‘heat’ that made my Nav throw a wobbly.

:ROFLMAO:
My first behaved itself perfectly for about four or so years then started to wobble a fortnight before a big trip:eek:
Four replacements later and I am finally the owner of a nice new format, which I hope will be the last.
Garmin have never questioned my returns.

I can’t remember whether I’ve had 4 or 5 but, to be fair, Garmin have been superb (albeit the exchanges should never have been necessary). The latest seems to be solid after a year+ so fingers crossed.

anyone find the screen on the new type really sensitive?

I had 5 replacemements, the last one in June last Year (2024), this last one had the BMW Branded Splash Screen, and I have had no issues since then, but have actually moved to a Chigee AIO-5 BMW, and iPhone (CarPlay), works like a dream

Are you sure you've got a capacitive screen version? In theory they only work from touch. Mind you, nothing BMW would ever surprise me...
Pretty sure- it was a warranty replacement, 'Make Life a Ride', hardware V9.

Get in touch with Garmin and they will help you foc they have recently sorted mine out and it’s been great since

Yes- the button is activated when your finger is hovering 5mm over it!
Yeah that’s it, is the latest version too.
Like predictive text but guesses where you’re going to touch the screen 😳
