I'm trying to find out if the BMW Nav II uses a specific 2.5mm jack plug for connecting the sound output through an autocom.

I plugged in the 2.5mm jack which I use with the mobile phone and all I get is a buzzing noise when it is trying to give me instructions.

The Nav II/Garmin is powered from the bike, giving an earth loop effect back to the Autocom, whereas the phone uses internal batteries. You need isolation for the Nav II/Garmin audio output. A simple way is to run a second, 2.5mm mono --> 3.5mm phone cable (Autocom part 1561) into an Autocom splitter part number 1282 (was part 57). Input A on the splitter is for a GPS/Radar, input B is for a mobile phone.
