When i bought my NAV II 2nd hand it had two tiny bubbles on the screen
but yesterday while riding around the anti glare part of the screen just came away,
i've heard that bmw use a different type of anti glare than the normal 2610 if so can Garmin fix it

It happened twice to my 2610. The BMW guys tried hard to convince me that their version was better.

The nice chaps at Garmin fixed the first one and simply gave me a replacement unit the 2nd time.

Mine started to crack-up.

It's the top fuel-proof layer. I think mine was caused by water sitting on it then freezing. Either that or water managed to get between the outer skin and the main screen and then froze.

It was changed under warranty (for a Nav II+).

I'll be interested to see what the reaction will be if it happens again, now that my initial two year warranty has expired and the Nav III has replaced it.

When I first noticed the problem, I contacted Garmin but was told to take up the problem with BMW, it was still covered by BMW at the time. I don't know if Garmin would be more interested once the BMW warranty expires.

Some people have reported good back-up from Garmin.

Different problem, but was in warranty and they gave IMHO excellent back up. Well worth the extra I paid for the Nav 2 v a 2610.

But then Garmin do seem to do the right thing most of the time for most people :thumb2

My Nav 11 did the same fortunately still in warranty and was replaced by a Nav 3 :) But now they do get a screen cover which i must say i use religiously. I also added the the film used on digi camera screen to help it.

my nav 11 (nav2) did it also- NOG bmw exchanged it there and then for a nav111 (nav3) no questions asked and i didn't even buy the nav 11 from them in the first place!!!

tob blokes! :beerjug:

That's exactly what happened to my 2610.

So, is the BMW unit really any different?

I got the impression that in my case it wasn't frost but did seem to follow the bike being used in the rain and then left for a few hours with the sun on the screen. But it's supposed to be waterproof.

The chaps at Garmin said they'd had a 'batch' of units with this problem.

Still, can't complain when they threw a new 2610 at me FOC - and mine was out of warranty, although the previous repair had been only 8 months previous.
