NAV IV ... Maps 2017 .3 Yes I know but there isn't a dedicated section

A week ago I updated the maps on my NAV V and My NAV IV

It all went OK -ish. Eventually the option to install it to the device as well as the computer appeared, I don't remember when. It's never straight forward.

For some reason I just had a look at my NAV IV. It only has 2017.2 and Garmin says that's the latest??

And on my computer...... I only have 2017.2 as well.

Hmmm

And now I've connected the Nav V up (which has 2017.3) and Garmin Express now magically asks would I like to install the maps to my computer.
I now have to wait several hours to see if I can get 2017.3 on the computer.

And when I go away taking my Nav IV as a spare, how's it going to cope with routes make using 2017.3 when it only has 2017.2 on it???

As a spare it'll be fine. The route will still work although it might have to recalculate. The Nav IV has NT maps & the Nav V has NTU maps so there will be differences. By looking at your routes on the 2 different maps on the computer you should be able to see any changes that occur.

Mmm Perhaps I ought to take two computers as well!
Anyway after much faffing about I've managed to get 2017.3 on both computers despite Garmin Express not giving me the option of where to but it on the tiny SSD on my little Linx Pad.
I didn't know that about the Nav IV - thank you, D

the NT map updates are being released twice a year and the NTU maps four times, just a bit of info,
