Might have a few spare ones at home too, so long as youse don't mind a bit of advertising :D

Roll on Sunday :bounce1 :bounce1

Datum

I have a Garmin12XL on admiralty datum with a lot of waypoints I wouldn't like to lose. Would changing datum and entering new waypoints burger up the original info? :type

12XL at sea

Chubby how many waypoints have you used in 12 XL? from memory the 12xl holds 500 WP's , change the map system to Ireland 1965 and the Grid to Irish Grid instead of degrees this will rename all the waypoints as irish WP's .
When the event is over change the datum back to the Current one and the GPS will return all the waypoints to that Datum , including the ones from the Nav Rally. hope you are nice and confused

Running Time and Lunch hour

here it is

And that has to be between 12.00 & 13.00 :nenau

you can check in between 12 and 1300 hrs but have to stay for 1 hour

Google Map says 'about 5'. At what time do we start losing points :nenau
fingers will call it on Sunday morning but normally 6 hours running Time + 1 hour lunch = 7 Hours , Add 7 Hours to your start time and you have your finish time , After that you lose points Not PINTS

:clap :bow We appreciate your efforts to get us a day out on the bikes :thumb2

I've one at home if anyone can't get one by Sunday. But you'll need to let me know by Friday evening ;) one or 2 B and W maps available for the down and out and maybe the loan of a GPS if somebody is keen

Might have a few spare ones at home too, so long as youse don't mind a bit of advertising :D

Roll on Sunday :bounce1 :bounce1

last notice

Yeah, now that was good craic, I'm really glad I used those "Brownie Points" to get to do it. Pipped at the post

Doucher, Fingers, Gunner and the two girls who did all the real work when we arrived, thanks for all yer efforts,
very much appreciated and I look forward to the next one. :clap :clap

We will run another BAALBEC NAV RALLY but we would like to here if ye would like to see more off road more road checks more difficult clues ye get the picture

Personally, I thought it was a good mix. Some very nice roads & tracks. A few more off-road points probably wouldn'd be any harm, although if it meant resorting to more Coke cans in trees then maybe not ;). I don't think the clues should be any harder - it's a navigation rally & the clues should be just to confirm that you found the place.
Just my €0.02 worth :D

Thanks again to you & your crew for a brilliant days sport :thumb2

Thanks for a great day, well organised and in a very scenic part of the world. Emptied the water from my boots at R2D2's gaff and got home at 01.15am. BB1 and R2D2 cheers for the digs. Padge, great riding with you, impressive control of that big yoke. Lets go back and DO that hill near the mast close to waypoint 17.

Nice to put faces to names which I will now either forget or confuse...... Interestingly 60 nautical miles/hr is 72mph thats Garmin V speedo on a private road of course. Eat yer heart out P&O.

Would someone please post on my burger? We werent lost just waylaid.

thoughts

first, a mega thanks to all involved, it was a superb day, a well organised event that made full use of some magnificent countryside. The ride would have been worth it even without the competition.

second, I think that that you hit the right mix of road and off road without having to run separate classes for road bikes and GS style bikes. My work colleague on his FJ1200 could have down a respectable number of points, but not those deep in the boreens and on the trackways.

third, I'm disappointed that so many failed to seize the opportunity to take part, but it was their loss.

Again, a big thanks to the organisers and their most able assistants, and to GerryC for his off bike agility and a fully working GPS. My congrats to those above us in the points score and to Ed for not using a GPS.
