Can anyone please tell me how to successfully connect a Bluetooth headset to the new Navigator V sat nav that came with my GSA.

I have updated the firm ware and checked all the settings on the unit which is supposed to work with most V1.1 Bluetooth headsets or above, all mine are V2.1 and I have tried a few now, most successful is my Bose headphones, but even they don't work every time the unit is switched on or pairs with my phone.

I am not really bothered about the phone and would be just happy to hear the sat nav commands.

I think the £600.00 price tag for such a basic unit that doesn't even come with life time traffic is a little steep.

I just wished my Nokia was water proof...!! :D

Thanks in advance,

Steve.

And "I think the £600.00 price tag for such a basic unit that doesn't even come with life time traffic is a little steep" is incorrect
- as far as I am aware, all BMW Navigators (certainly the IV and the V) have free Lifetime maps.

Is this a case of you not having read (the admitedly online) User Manual before complaining?

Collected my R1200RT SE LC with new Nav V 3 weeks ago.

To pair Bluetooth (I have an Interphone F4) first check the Nav V is set to Bluetooth "on" - switch it off and then switch on Bluetooth headset then switch on Nav V again. Mine paired up immediately and I've covered 600 miles with it working fine.

Regards,
Mike

Thanks Mike,

I will have another go and try what you have said. I have read some of the other threads and tried setting up in different sequences, but to no avail. Some times it holds the connection but then others it says connected but there is actually no connection and there is no sound at all. I have even checked the volumes for each section and again they are all saying that they are ok.

Thanks again,

Steve.

I know it comes with life time maps, it doesn't come with life time traffic that some of the other much cheaper Garmin units come with as standard.

And yes I have read the manuals and even checked the FAQs on the Garmin web site.

What about the Smartphone link for Traffic?

Connected my Nav V to a new Sena BT headset & my Smart Phone last Friday. I had set aside 3 hours to fanny around with it & it all worked no problem pretty much straight away, including listening to music.

I did keep losing connection after 2 minutes or so, then I realised this was due to the Nav V going into standy-by mode as I was pairing whilst the Nav V wasn't sitting on the bike with the ignition on & I hadn't touched the screen.

I then tried it on the bike, with the ignition on & everything remained connected for 10 minutes or so when I went in for some snap.

Proof of the pudding will be when I take it for a proper spin but so far so good & anyone who's read my posts on here will know what a complete techincal idiot I am. If I can do it I'm sure you can. :thumb2

It is a great idea till you want to go and tour around France and then you are looking at a large bill for data use.

That sweeping statement will depend on your UK tarrif and your provider's terms.

Many thanks for your encouragement, I will persevere or buy the same headset you have.

Thanks again,

Steve.

I have the Sena SMH10R and can thoroughly recommend it. No problems pairing up with my Nav V and with my pillion. (The iPhone pairs with the Nav V)
