Nav v can't seem to transfer a route onto the unit

Yes, but the OP reformatted his card using Windows default...no more FAT32.

Okay, thanx. So when I finally get round to buying a micro SD card (assuming that's the route I go down for my North America maps & music) don't feck about with it - just put it straight into the Nav 5 & I should be okay?

You can connect the µSD Card to your computer to copy files to it if you need to. Just don't reformat it and you'll be good to go.

What would you say would be the best free software formatting to use, so I'm not going to import add-ons from other parties, as I've just had to reload my computer and install everything

Just try a quick one. If it works great. If it doesn't, try a full one. If that works, great.

If neither work, return for more advice.

Might be easier, given the relatively cheap price for microSD cards, to buy a new one and resist the temptation to reformat it!

You proberly right, I'll be interested if some one can point me in the right direction what make of sd card would be best, I got a cheap 64 gb off eBay think it was £12 plus delivery, 16gb will do just for music

Buying memory cards off of eBay is risky, plenty of forged cards out there. Having had my fingers burnt by this before I now get my cards from 7dayshop.com. I've used their own brand cards in GPS, phones, stills and video cameras for a few years now without any issues. For GPS use you don't need a class 10 card (does no harm though), class 6 is fine, as that's the write speed anyway. In a GPS it reads the card and only writes to it a little for track logging, hardly huge amounts of data being written at once. Write speed is only of relevance in devices such as cameras.

OK, what software are you using to format the card? And, if you are using Windows utility is the card formatted to FAT32?

I down loaded this with firefox

The program is sdformater v4.0

Format type quick, full(erase), full(overwrite) I tried all three

Don't know what this Means
Format size adjustment on or off

That software does not format FAT32 for SDXC cards.

Try FAT32Formatter GUI... click on the GUI screenshot to download the App. Then just put it on your desktop and run it; no installation required. It's what I use.
